I've been trying to figure out what gauge of wire to use to replicate scale wiring runs and hand holds on 1/35 armor models.
I found a nice Wikipedia page that shows wire gauge and its equivalent size in inches. From that I was able to convert to 1/35 scale by dividing the actual diameter in inches by 35.
For 2", 1", .5" and .25" scale wire/conduit there are exact matches with standard wire gauges (15, 21, 27 and 33 gauge). These are the only 4 gauges that align exactly with 1/35 scale. Everything else is close.
So if you want a 2" tow cable you'd use a 15 gauge wire.

I updated the chart to include standard drill bit sizes for each wire gauge.
The smallest standard bits go down to #80's. I know there are smaller out there but I don't know their sizes. I did some searching in Google and was able to find .0071 drill bits that correspond to 1/4" round wire in 1/35 scale. They cost about $10 per bit.
19 and 20 gauge wire may not quite fit the hole as they are both about 2 thousandths of a mm larger than the hole. You might still be able to get the wire through the hole. If not, use the next larger size bit.
