While I was looking around at PE Bending tools I came across this set PE placement tools on Hyperscale. www.hyperscale.com/2011/reviews/tools/pickandplacereviewbg_1.htmThey offer three sizes, but they cost $9.99 each...pretty expensive in my eyes. Well last night I was in Hobby Lobby in the beading/jewelry section and this caught my eye. It appears to be essentially the same tool for only $4.99 and you get the small and large in one tool. I tried it out on some PE i had laying around and it works like a charm! $4.99 vs. $20 not bad!!!

Don't you just love the 'hobby premium' that gets attached to certain things simply because it can now be used for model building? Nice find. The beading/jewelry section at Hobby Lobby and similar places has lots of found treasures like this...I have a nice set of mandrels that I use for shaping curved PE that I picked up for just a few bucks as just one example.

I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday and couldn't find the pick up tool shown but found something similar, and it is funny you mentioned the mandrels, Bill, bc I just grabbed those too while looking. These will compliment the expensive tool I bought years ago "specially made" for PE.

I wonder how long it stays "sticky"?

I wonder how long it stays "sticky"? Supposedly you can wash it with hot soapy water and it will restore the stickiness. Time will tell.

My area Hobby Lobby finally got these in stock and I grabbed one today. To order online would have doubled the cost with shipping.

I use this low-tech solution - works great, and when the tackiness declines you just sharpen it.
