Yesterday I was over at the Half Priced Book Store. Picked up two books.
* Last Stand At Khe Sanh. I've always found Stubbs book titled Valley Of Decision to be the best by a wide margin, but this one looks to be close. I noticed the author covers 881 & 861 in depth, and that's a serious plus for his book.
* U.S. Aircraft in the Soviet Union and Russia. WOW!! This book is an absolute must have for a WWII history buff. It covers everything from pre WWI to modern jet air liners. Yet the real Jewell is all the WWII and post WWII data. I'm working on data right now for a couple P39 builds (Russian) flown by obscure pilots, the it was right there in front of me! Now I'm looking at a Catalina build, and at least one A20 build. There's enough data in there to keep you busy for years!

just finished reading a book written by a German fighter pilot in WWII. Not a tremendous amount of combat, but it was still there. Deals mostly with day to day survival from mid to late 1943 till the end. He was one of the few surviving "Abbeville Boys", and the book starts out with his meeting Douglas Bader at a party. Just prior to the RAF dropping him a new set of legs. This is the only serious book I've ever read that showed what life was like up close on the western front with the infantry and armor (Allied) just a few miles away. Very good book, and much different from Lipfert's book about the Eastern Front.
Heaven Next Stop by Gunther Bloemertz ISBN # 0-7509-1328-2 (1953)
