Lets start 2017 with something BIG. The star, or to be more correct, Star Destroyer, is one of my long time favourites I always wanted to model. Of course there are already other models on the market and I thought twice about the question "Revell or Zvezda?" I decided for the Revell version - its large, but not too big, and although its an easy kit, the detail is very great. The only thing that is a bit strange (due to its "toy" status most probably) is the large gaps you have between the rudders on the lower part and the body. Nothing serious, this can be repaired with plastic sheet etc. Im getting a bit lazy on my old days, so I welcome the sound/light module in the kit. The focus of the build will be the paint - there are tons of panely that all cry for "10.000 shades of grey"!!! If you wonder how big its gonna be - its ca. 40 cm long and 25 cm wide.

40cm? Trying to figure out what scale that could be. 1/4000? 1/5000?

Exactly. FYI - I heard rumours that Revell Germany will rebox the Zvezda ISD in some months - for a lower price of course. Can that be true? If so, I want a 2nd one.

Upper hull has enough additional details. Started to recreate the rear section with the help of tiny bits of plastic sheet.

No model without a base. A wooden frame was painted black and with the help of the local copy shop a big print of space was created. Two holes for the bottom of the ISD and the base - and off it goes. ISD is airborne and ready for paint.

Thank you! The connection wasnt glued - for better transport first and I still can turn the model without lifting it from the table, perfect for expos for example. The ISD can turn and pitch. If everything would be that easy sometimes.

Thank you!
Curiously, the tiny bits werent the biggest problem. Of course I had to redo some of them due to tiny connection spots, they just went off. But the biggest issue with the build was the washing. first I used Tamiya washings and it came out pretty chalky. Vallejos were far better in the end, it was done with a medium grey.
So.... the Star Destroyer build has come to an end, beauty pictures will follow as always.
The next SciFi build is in its beginnings - Pegasus' "Nautilus". WIP soon.
Thank you all for looking in here, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. See you soon...
Lucas.
