Thanks Chris. Glad you dig the turret . Nah no paint tonight dude, too late for that. This coming week should see a close to the build part. Will have to take a trip to the garage and chop a piece of wood for this project.

Hiya JT and Guy, thanks for the words guys. She's getting there. Have started the torsion bars, or what's left of them. Will be taking lots of pics of the painting which hopefully will start in a few days.

After spending nearly 4 hours working on the torsion bars, they are finally done. I knew they would take a while to scratch build seeing as how I needed 11 of them. I also made two extras that I will keep as masters to cast in resin. This way I won't have to scratch another dozen of them. Although there aren't many parts to a bar, it does take time to make so many identical pieces. I also added 7 recessed bolts to the plate that is attached to the side wall. You can barely make them out in the pics. Here are a bunch of pics of what's been done. Now that these are done, I can finish up all the misc parts to the model. Thanks for looking.

Thanks Chris and Z. Glad you fellas really like it. Yep got cramps in my hands a few times, one of the reasons why it took so long .
I still have to add the plates that mount it to the floor....another day.

Rob- if you want labor savings- take off the roadwheels, the swing arms and remove the broken axles - then I will case the whole hull wall as one part.
All the bolt detail DONE when it comes out of the mold!!!!

Making identical parts is the hardest part (omg that sounds silly!!!). You did it, again !

Steve thanks for the offer bro, but the next one will be MUCH better than this one. I do have two extra torsion bars saved as masters for casting. But no rush with those.
Thanks Richard, Wesley and G. Was tedious work getting them all the same but worth it I hope.

Thanks Thom. It's actually fun doing this type of stuff...even if it's not 100% accurate, it's still fun ....and will look the part when the paint is on.

Hey Iain, good to see you back bro.
Well I went and started painting the turret. I did this mainly to help answer some questions with pics. Stay tuned Steve, a SBS coming in less than an hour bro.

This is just a quick and simple SBS for doing a freshly burnt out tank. I'm using just the gun for this and will use a more advanced technique for the rest of the turret. This is basically the same technique that Edi used on his T-34 but with less pigments. First the primer coat, here AK acrylic gray primer. Next up I applied a base rust color using Tamiya flat brown. Next I varied the rust by using two mid range rust colors from Lifecolor. This was thinned 75% paint and the rest water. This was randomly sprayed on the model, but mainly in the areas that I want rusted. I then heavily thinned some Tamiya flat black to the consistancy of a filter. This was sprayed in the nooks and the gun breech. To blend the rust colors and black, and also to lighten the rust a bit, I thinned a mix of the AK rust. This was applied as a filter and in two coats. Now for the charred paint effect I simply used an old brush and very small amounts of AK dust effects in a similar manner as the sponge tech. This was also thinned and applied over this to blend it more and lighten it. I then repeated this with Lifecolor acrylic dust. The last thing that I did was darken the edges with AK black pigments. You should use this sparingly and repeat it until it looks right to you. So that it in a nut shell A very simple technique that is great for small areas and parts, but could also be used on larger surfaces. To get even better effects, layering of different techniques and products can be done. But it does require practice to get the hang of it. Hope this is useful ..

Glad you two like it. It was quick and took about 30 min once the base brown was on. I could have done more but I wanted to keep it simple.

Keep in mind the the way I did the gun is a quick way of doing it with good results. Now if your good with the HS tech, you can do the gray/white scorched paint areas that way too. I would recommend a light random layer, then do some mapping over the HS or AK chipping fluid. Just a tip.
@ Steve...let me know if you need more bud.

Huge help Rob!
The pigments will help me blend some of the colors together for sure.
I don't have the AK Interactive dust effect! I thought I had all of their products- but anyway- I used some very dilute Tamiya Gray paint to highlight a couple of panels.
Mini SBS and what I have learnedfrom months of watching your projects will get me part way there.

Steve, email sent bro. Tamiya gray is perfect Steve. I used the AK to speed things up.
