It's an older one Leon..but should build up quite nicely! Check RB Model for the barrel...might be able to find one on Sleeze-bay with free shipping. I thought this one had Indy tracks...except for the snipping and a little clean up, they would work pretty good. If shooting for Metal, Spade Ace can be found on the 'Bay' as well...thinking maybe around #30 or so. Unless someone has an extra set of Magic Tracks kicking around they want to donate. Bring on the building!!

Leon, you could come over to the "dark side" and use it as a base for a 1/20th scale scratchbuilt....

PJ,I don't know if i'm quite ready for that yet! Scratchbuilt a lot of model railroad buildings in the past but this is a totally different animal.

don't take that kit lightly, as I've seen many great builds off it. Really wants zimmerit, and a lot of stowage. Also many had the added concrete in the front (somebody sells it in resin). Problem with zimmerit is that they used at least two completely different styles that look nothing alike.
I have the 105mm armed Stug with the waffle style zimmerit on it. It's high on my "to do list." Felt Dragon did a nice job in shape and pattern, but maybe could have been .0075" deeper. I think ATAK and Cavalier make the best zimmerit, and Eduard PE zimmerit just sucks. Still better than Tamiya zimmerit!

I look forward to your work on it! Like I said its just an older Imperial Dragon kit and I have built two in the past they came out just great. It is just softer in details when compared to newer Dragon kits.
Is it too early to ask which scheme you are going for? LOL There are so MANY schemes available for this StuG!!!

Afternoon fellas! Made a start on the StuG yesterday.Sprockets, idlers, roadwheels and return rollers cleaned and assembled. The lower hull got its susspention on and the upper casement and is assembled.I dry fit the rolling stuff and their sloppy as heck. Guess i'm used to poly caps.I'm a little miffed why Dragon included 3 types of return rollers and and 2 drive housings.the only difference is one has a little nub for the sprocket to attach to. 001 by Leon Dorak, on Flickr 002 by Leon Dorak, on Flickr 003 by Leon Dorak, on Flickr Thanks for looking!

Leon, the different types of return rollers were an attempt to conserve rubber as the war progressed. Also look at your "saukopf" mantlet, the hole on the left side is for the coaxial mg, however it should be on the right side. Hope this helps, Joel.

Just so you know the gap between the inner and outer return rollers is way too big, one reason I suggested replacing them!

Morning guys! More progress on the StuG last night.Casement and upper hull were married together and started adding the exterior parts.Upper and lower hull are dry fit for pics.So far no issues with fit or assembly.Only gripe i have is with sprue lettering. Two sprues of part E and one sprue of parts E H and I.Pain in the butt having to look for parts.Hope you like the progress. 002 by Leon Dorak, on Flickr 003 by Leon Dorak, on Flickr 004 by Leon Dorak, on Flickr 005 by Leon Dorak, on Flickr 006 by Leon Dorak, on Flickr Thanks for looking! Coming along nicely Leon! Duplicated sprue lettering is one of the (many) Dragon-typical foibles, brought about by their mix-and-match approach of combining sprues from several kits.

WOW! You have been so busy I can see. Yeah guys are correct... Dragon is famous for pulling sprues from other kits and throwing them together so often you can see same letters. LOL Just wait until you get a Smart kit from Dragon... million parts!
Looking real good my friend!
p.s. Is it still too early to ask about the camo scheme? LOL
