Interesting one there Tony! looking forward to seeing you have your way with it! I was tempted to go after the more what-if Vollkettenaufklarer 38 w/ 7.5cm Kanone 51 I./24....just for fun! I'll flip some coins on that soon!

So Tony this is a cool machine...... And I can't wait to see it completed. I do though get to be "that guy" you know the pain in the ass historian, that just loves facts.......
I don't know where people get the 30 chassis produced. Spielberger put that out in their 38t english version...... However in the original german version circa the 1970;s, it does not quote that number. In fact most reputable sources only list one prototype being completed. These are fact you no doubt have already come across. None of this or that changes the fact that this is a very cool build, BUT really should be classified as a "paper panzer. I will end with this "postscript"....... Based on a life time studying the wehrmacht and the Reich, especially the what transpired during the last year of the war. I would say that it is more likely than not, more than one COULD and probably was completed. Could the number 30 really have been ascertained....I don't think so, (again based on research not just because). The number probably was 10 to 15......but unless some 100 year old factory foreman comes out of his sealed bunker with an arm full of production records....we'll probably never know..................................

That's why i'm building the kit "we'll never know" PJ. The Germans kept such meticulous records of everything you would think something would've surfaced by now but unknown things come to light everyday. A work order was issued and you would think a cancellation would be in there somewhere. Anyway: Since the first six( ?)were built from maintenance salvage I thought all the different colors were fitting. Thanks for taking the time to go across the street and seeing what i've been up to. Well done sir! The right mix of "wear" and "newness". I do have one question, does the muzzle have a plug installed?

Tony, the reason I thought there was a plug was a optical illusion that made the aluminum look as if it was "standing proud" from the muzzle. Still great work, Joel.

somewhere I have two or three photos of this Hetzer. Also have the one with the 75mm L24 gun on this same chassis. I may even have a photo of two or three side by side. It's amazing how many different tracks were built off the 38T platform. My favorite is the 38T with the turret off the 250/9 half track gary

Sure wish you could find those photos Gary. G-Man that was very much appreciated and from a long time friend too. Thanks to All Tony lee give me a week or so. I found this old pamphlet at the half price book store based on the 38T platform. Anyway I think it's the one I'm looking for. If not I have some more data. By the way the 75mm L24 gun on the Hetzer looks like they grafted a 234/3 on top of it. gary

Looks the part. Any reason you used elfenbein instead of red primer in the drivers area?

"Any reason you used elfenbein instead of red primer in the drivers area?"
There's a photo in one of my Spielberger books and I couldn't tell weather it was a really light red primer or a sooty off white. The instrument panel looked to be a new replacement and it appeared to be a bright white. Since the gun and mount blocked the view anyway I went with with the elfenbein.
