I came into an ancient Tamiya 1/35 scale Centurion Mk 3. A coworker built it way back when, 1983 or so. My camera was on loan so no photos of the unrestored build. Straight in the bucket. This is after a couple weeks in stripper. Best I could tell he brush painted Testors enamel in flat brown and flat green Sturdy paint! I obtained a set of AVF's side skirts from a generous forum member. I will attempt to replicate a Mk 3 from Lord Strathcona's Horse in Korea 1951 or so. Stay tuned. G

what are you using for stripper? Somewhere in my way too big of a stash is an AFV Australian Centurion begging to be done in a Vietnam setting. Have seen the kit a couple times, but it's buried deep. gary

Gary I like to use Wesley's "Bleche White" white wall tire cleaner. It works well on enamel, acrylic and lacquer. Doesn't harm the plastic but is quite caustic straight from the bottle. This is the longest I have ever had to wait for the stuff to take hold. That old school brush painted enamel was freaking tough.

Well, it took nearly three months to strip that good old square bottle enamel. I changed the Bleche White several times and scrubbed and scrubbed. I finally resorted to Easy Off oven cleaner. 30+ years has allowed several parts to go missing, the most noticeable being the side skirts. Thanks to TRM I have a set. I scratchbuilt others. The kit part. I resorted to CA glue and accelerator for most of the gaps, seams and general repair. She's in primer as we speak. G

One thing you can say about enamel paint, it's tough stuff! Nice to see this one back on the bench G.

Thank you all. The weather took a turn and it actually rained today. I might wait a few before painting the top colors to allow the primer to dry. There's just enough humidity in the air to slow thing down. Good for acrylic though!

Added some color today. I mixed Tamiya Dark Green and NATO Green with a drop of Dark Yellow. Not super accurate but ok for a resurrected shelf queen. I'm looking at a late '50's camo scheme now. I will add the black pattern later after she's put together. I'll use NATO Black for the interrupter color. A Centurion in green and black just looks bad azz. G
