I will be doing the Dragon version of the King Tiger from the Heavy SS Panzer Battalion 501 which took part in the Ardennes offensive in December 1944.
A hard edge ambush camo pattern will be called for here. It seems that most if not all had this.
Also weathering will be less of a factor here as all the King Tigers at Ardennes were brand new. So no rust and not many chips. Dirt/mud yes, but radical wear and tear no. Few if any missing parts like fenders etc. Not out of the question, but most left the line of departure in one piece.
Working on the turret....because I hate wheels.
Stay tuned for more updates.

Dragon sells those figures in a separate kit, and I really like them. Have latched onto two of the kits, and a couple other sets of figures that correspond to them. Mine are going to eventually end up on the back of a Jagepanther and a Takom Tiger II. Have never seen that Dragon kit in the flesh, and it looks nice. gary

Signal flag racks? If I remember correctly, this photo was taken on a firing range.

Gun barrel supports for travelling. They rotated the turret backwards and lowered the barrel onto that weird looking wood block.

Nice progress Terry! This cat is looking good. Was going to start mine but opted to torture myself and start the Dragon Tiger.

With all the stuff going on around mine I missed this one completely - apologies for that Terry. Nice start! Actually, I quite like wheels - but then soviet tanks managed to do with many fewer
