So with the 1/32nd build of M-55s, I see a serious need to have some PE used to improve some things. Not sure how to proceed, because it looks to me like making my own PE parts is going to be a pretty daunting task. Anyone done this themselves or do you know of any companies who can produce one-off sets for less than an arm and a leg?

I guess my first question would be what parts were you looking to replace? I actually made a small etching tank a wile back....just to see if I could make some stuff, not that I would...LOL It did work, but screwing with ferric chloride is not one of the high points of the process. There are some companies that can produce specific PE parts and/or sheets from you designs or you can pay them to work up the design. Actually, I think one of the closest if in RI. Biggest problem is the initial production...which is similar to one-offing a set, might be as much as a couple hundred bucks. So, what I would think might be the best course...LET US KNOW WHAT PARTS YOU ARE TRYING TO BUILD!! LOL I am sure a number of solutions for your dilemma can be solved just form the folks right here!

Looking at doing my own photo etch stuff such as long/large sections of iron fencing and gates. Another is I'm rebuilding the Italeri Humvee w/tow that I built 20 some years ago. Think there's only ONE kit (Tamiya) that gives you the option of having the doors open. So what, you Army/Marine guys always make sure the doors are closed so nobody jumps in and drives off in it? !-) Had to really work at, but got all 4 doors cut away from the frame and now scratch building a new door framework. But on Youtube, there's a guy named Plasma who shows you 2 different ways of making your own photo etch parts. So easy that even Army, Marine & Navy guys can do it. !-) And it's not just fencing, but gates, security doors/bars like those used on homes/businesses, window frames, glass window frames used in a lot of churches, palm leaves, store signs....only limit is your imagination.
