Those of you with really long memories may remember I started building a soviet-captured Stug III called "Мститель" (Avenger) many moons ago. I'm not going to resurrect the old thread as it'll be littered with PB icons. Quick recap: I shelved the project because I came across another picture showing it from the front identifying it as a Ausf C/D - I'd used the Tamiya kitwhich is an Ausf B, so the project got shelved. From another shelf queen (SU-76i with Masterclub casemate) based on the old Dragon Ausf C/D I've now got the bits to get this one going again, and hopefully bring it across the finish line this time. For reference only, here's some pics: Took a bit of persuasion, but Dragon casemate attached to Tamiya hull: To infinity and beyond!

I remember this one! Should be good. Not a whole lot of work to convert a B to a C?

I'd say your persuasion did the trick! Nice to see this one resurface sans PB icons littering it everywhere.

I remember this one! Should be good. Not a whole lot of work to convert a B to a C? Well done for remembering Dupes! As far as I can tell - and I'm no expert on German stuff - main difference seems to be the casemate. Bill, Joel, Leon - thanks for joining me and make yourselves at home! D, This one was before my time....still very BERRY COOL...... I hope you replicate the German insignia left on the rear quarter..... PJ2 If memory serves, the decal sheet for this one is complete PJ - even down to the name the original crew gave its Stug: Prinz Eugen

What the F? How do I get rid of that??? If you're referring to the PB icons that show up in the quotes (like the quote I'm making of you now), it's not you, it's something in the ProBoards setup that uses graphics for the giant 'quote' marks that go before and after each quote. I use Adblocker Plus and found that the only way I could get rid of them was to right click on each one and block that specific element. Now they don't show, for me, when I see people quoting other posts.

"I hope you replicate the German insignia left on the rear quarter..... PJ2" Funny that they left that intact. Seems to me the making of a "friendly fire" incident.

Funny that they left that intact. Seems to me the making of a "friendly fire" incident. Yes, it is strange Bob (welcome BTW) - on this one all of the German marking were left intact even down to the unit insignia (Stug Abteilung 177) and the name the German crew gave its Stug. This one actually had quite a long and successful career in the hands of the soviets. I can't remember the details, but it was either 6 or maybe even 9 months - quite a long time for frontline AFVs to survive.

Welcome to the party Tobi! After looking at tons of pics, I've come to the conclusion that the fasteners on the left box were counter-sunk screws. Went through my PE stash, drew a blank, but 'VHV' (Ve Häff Veys): took a 1mm Albion Alloys copper tube and thinned the inside wall with a needle-nosed file, clamped it in my palm-drill and Robert's your father's brother: Found it easiest to twidlle it back and forth rather than using it like a drill, and had to 'sharpen' it with the file after 2 or 3 'srews' were done. Then just had to put in a slot with a new #11 blade. While I was at it I also added the two bullet-proof bolts that were missing: Box on the right was next - probably shouldn't have used bolts with washers, but no use crying over spillt milk: Only problem, they made the kit bolts on the roof look crap, so I replaced them as well using 0.8mm and 0.7mm bolts - a touch over-scale maybe, but call it artistic licence and as an added bonus it makes them easier to count : All bolts are resin items from Masterclub. Thanks for popping by and ACW.

Looking good Dierk! It's always good to be properly screwed and bolted when it comes to these types of projects.

Looking good Dierk! It's always good to be properly screwed and bolted when it comes to these types of projects. Unfortunately, I'm properly screwed on this project: I went seriously wrong somewhere along the way of attaching the brackets for the mudguards, ruining some of the PE in the process of trying to fix my mistakes. While I'm mulling over my options I've put it back in its box as the temptation to introduce it to the wall was becoming overwhelming. To be resurrected some other time...

Great solution for the slotted screw dilemma. Simple and very effective.
Sad to hear the project's gone south for you, though. Hope you can come up with a solution. This one's got a lot of potential.
