I am lurking here for several years now, not missing any post. I was soaking up everything that might improve my own modeling, especially everything on painting, weathering, etc. The models you military modelers create are top notch. The reason why I dont fit into 1/87 - forums is that I am not aiming for shiny models - and most important, I scratchbuild almost everything. Well, thats not entirely true, beside from styrene scratchbuilding I make use of rapidprototyping too.
So I decided to test the waters here with a thread showing my actual modeling projekt. The prototype is a german articulated all-terrain crane from the ninenteensixties. Despite being a german product it uses an american LeTourneau Model B tractor.
Since I dont have a prototype photo, I'll show instead an overview of the 3D-drawing I am working on. Photos #2 and 3 are showing the model taking shape.

Welcome to MSC, now that you've finally come out of the shadows. Nice work! For those, like me, who have a rough idea but no solid knowlege, would you give a quick outline of what 'rapid prototyping' involves?
i.gifer.com/6gG.gif You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist.
