Now starting on figures, male & female. Have Master Box pinup girls, but only 1 is wearing boots while others are in high heels. How do I add boots or shoes to their feet as shown on other 2 kits?

I still don't get it, you show us your subjects, that pin up girls and I think you have the fighting female figures but then you show us pics of an Indian fighter, Nancy Drew and a girl in a zombie survivor get up. You are driving us mad with what you are GOING to do. I've never seen another post on here like it. DO SOMETHING!

Edited request for help. Other 2 kits and the 3 former drawings are/were for illustration of footwear I'm looking at creating but don't know how to do as I've not done this before.

As Dr. Bone's would say "Da**it Jim, just do it!" Trial and error is the best way to learn, you won't know how to do it or learn from mistakes by just thinking about it.

I have changed boots / shoes a few times. The easy way is to cut them off doner figures and attach them to the figures you want. Since you are working in 1/35 you can pick up a set of soldier figures with boots quite cheaply. May need a bit of filler and a bit of sanding but quite easy to do.

I sympathise with your problems; I too am having footwear issues. They may be marginally worse, the 1:24th equivalent of the pin-up with the helmet and gun has lost her boots in favour of heels, while the girl sitting on the Jeep has also gained a pair (the 1:35th equivalent is barefoot). Given I'm not really up to sculpting footwear or even casting copies I'm in a bit of a bind, but the buy cheap figures and use them as foot doners does seem to be the best option... With regard to the young woman in the red t-shirt, her clothing is similar in style to some of the Trumpeter African Freedom Fighters. The usefulness of these for Survivors/Looters/Refugees has been commented on many parts of the net, especially with head swops; it might be possible to reduce the stature of some of these figures and add a little emphasis to chest and buttocks. The Masterbox "Somewhere in Saigon" set also looks useful, the Vietnamese soldier is of significantly smaller build than the Americans, and may afford an opportunity for "gender reassignment". MB's "Volkssturm, Ammunition to the Frontline" has potential for conversion to a couple of youthful refugees.
Regards,
M.
P.S. Take your time, there's no rush; do what you want, when you want to; post only when and if you feel like doing so. There's a chap on another board I frequent who says he will never complete anything. He's been quite frank about his psychological issues (remarkably similar to my own) which mean he never takes anything beyond the build-and-prime stage as he is adversely affected by the completed (painted) item falling so much short of his intentions. I've not completed anything significant for over a decade, when I did push myself to do something (having committed myself to the "Bathtub Navy" group build) I too found the (sh1t) result a bit of a downer. DO feel free to continue asking questions, I myself hang out here to gain knowledge against a possible future return to the hobby.

Moramarth, Here's my take on not ever completing models. I don't see the sense in even starting it then, and why post to other forums stating that you will never complete it? It's a total waste of our time to even follow the thread. Sure we may pick up a tip or two about some construction bits but in the grand scheme of things, it's a total waste of time. It's like telling people you're going to build a 100 story skyscraper and you build 3 floors and quit. Why be afraid of what it will look like. Finish your work and be proud of it, show it off if you want, but you don't have to if you think others won't like it. Finish, finish, finish. Don't have a pity party and say "oh it sucks, I'll never finish it" we don't care! Finish it, feel the pride of completing something with your own hands. It's a great feeling when you add that last piece or put on that last stroke of paint and say to yourself "yes, this one is finished"

"Moramarth, Here's my take on not ever completing models... It's a total waste of our time to even follow the thread... Don't have a pity party and say "oh it sucks, I'll never finish it" we don't care! "O.K., that's your opinion and you are entitled to it, and to express it. But I'm a little concerned by the use of "our" and (the royal?) "we": some may well agree with you but I don't think your viewpoint reflects the totality of the group any more than mine may. This board styles itself as a "Social Club", and I believe any worthwhile social grouping will extend its support to members who are in some way disadvantaged or troubled. I do not in any way wish to imply WillC should be included any such group - but I certainly am! So you may take this as a bit of special pleading on my own behalf. People may drop out of the hobby for a longer or shorter period of time for a variety of reasons, and while not actively participating by building stuff they can still feel part of a community by following MSC and occasionally posting where they feel they can contribute. This is particularly important where circumstances limit other social interaction. I also believe special consideration should be given to people returning to the hobby from extended absences who may not have had the benefit of such contacts; their return should be encouraged - but only they know when and to what extent that can be. False starts are only to be expected, but these should not become negative experiences that drive away a potential returnee. My own observations suggest MSC is actually a notably supportive group in many ways, but those who find such threads an annoyance are at liberty to note the poster and ignore them. As for the chap on the other group, he's a regular participant and a well regarded member. His stuff is primarily for potential use in wargaming, and wargamers are used to the "Grey Legions"; Hell, I'm thinking of spraying my assembled plastic figures silver so they match all my unpainted lead stuff... (Except, obviously, any figures wearing "white" armour, where such an action might be perceived as progress...) Regards, M

I do not think this forum is meant to be a place for people to discuss their troubles or their disadvantages. We are surrounded by those sort of things in our every day life. We come to this forum to get away from this stuff. If someone cuts themself or has to go to Dr due to injury that's one thing, but I don't think people want to be on here and read about people's social problems. We come here to de-stress and have fun and look at people's work. There are other forums for social problems. Now before you say I am a prick and have no compassion for anybody, I assure you I am quite the opposite. That is why I come to this forum, where I don't have to think about my problems and everyone else's problems and issues.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this; it doesn't warrant further discussion on this thread. Actually, it probably doesn't belong on a model-related thread - unless someone does a vignette of Gen. George S. Patton III administering his preferred therapy for PTSD... Regards, M
