So, I am looking to replace my venerable Xacto Razor saw. Mostly because I do believe they stopped making the version I have used for some 35 years....GADDDDDSSSS I am old. The version I currently have and want to replace is 1 1/4 inch Wide by 5 inches long. I use it almost exclusively with my miterbox set.
So the question is what would you replace it with? PJ2

You should be able to find the same blade for sale from Xacto....if not, Excel is your next best bet. They have blades which should fit in your handle or grab one of their sets which are fairly cost efficient. Eacel saw blade link - shop.excelblades.com/c/shop-by-product_saw-blades

Also think the Hobby Town near me has a couple on the rack from Xacto. Suspect there are some in your area. gary

was over at Hobby Town awhile ago checking on my 1/3 Wildcat kit. Of course a no show! Anyway I checked on your Xacto saw, and they had them in stock, plus the extra large blade. They also carry the Excell and Revell razor saws, and they'll fit your handle. If you can't find one let me know, and I'll pick them up for you.
By the way I bought a JLC razor saw, and don't even know where my Xacto saw is! gary

The JLC saw uses a thinner blade that is wire EDM cut from hardened steel. the blade is about 2.5" long with teeth on both sides. Really work well on resin parts. Think they are made in Eastern Europe, but you can buy them over here. I get blades at model shows. Highly recommended. gary

Storm, Thank you... One teeny question, what is a JLC saw? Thanks PJ2 Those saws are the bees knees when it comes to cutting delicate parts from sprues or casting blocks. They come in several teeth per inch options. It's been my go to saw for much of my work. Here's a link for you. JLC sawDave

take a good look at the RB Productions website. Radu dos a saw that's similar to the JLC, but maybe even better. You can buy it in different thicknesses, and several different tooth per inch patterns. gary
