One of the zombie/apocalypse dioramas I'm working on is called The Alley which will have a building w/fire escapes on one side, a dumpster and grease bin along with survivors and zombies in the alley. Along the length of the building will be a asphalt road for deliveries. From the railroaders, going for cork to simulate the asphalt road and having painted it flat black, it looks great...except it looks brand new. Used a spray can of flat black, but no idea how to weather it so it's lighter in tone/color. Got some white & black tempura water based paints and was thinking of mixing the 2 to airbrush onto the surface. Forgot to check Home Depot if they had anything like a faded road color. I'll also be putting a sidewalk on the other side of the building and hope to have it and the road match height wise. Suggestions?

You might fill a disposable syringe with acrylic paint and fill the "cracks" in the cork to simulate tar strips/patches in the asphalt. The lightening of the road color will definitely help.
