I have waited 40 years for this version of the M48 to be available. The M48A1 is the tank my Dad served as TC when I was a kid. So this is personal.
Some reference which is hard to come by.
Stand by for further updates.

I just learned something. The M48a1 had five return rollers like the M48a3! I always knew the M48a2 had three, so just assumed all of them did prior to the M48a3. Also never knew Dragon did an M48a1. gary

In February 1963, the US Army accepted the first of 600 M48 Patton tanks that had been converted to M48A3s, and by 1964 the US Marine Corps had received 419 Patton tanks. The A3 model introduced the diesel engine, countering the earlier versions' characteristic of catching fire. These Pattons were to be deployed to battle in Vietnam. Because all M48A3 tanks were conversions from earlier models, many characteristics varied among individual examples of this type. M48A3 tanks could have either three or five support rollers on each side and might have either the early or later type headlight assemblies.

Hi Terry
That's looking very nice indeed. A nice clean finish too which makes a nice change from one covered in muck.
Out of interest how did you achieve the varied wood colouring on the tool handles?
Well done.

Thanks for taking the time to come back to me. I'll have to squirrel that one away for future reference. Sorry to hear it wasn't well received I think it's great.

Terry, you rocked it like Elvis. And don't fret the shows, they mean nothing as far as who gets what bauble for what the judges consider to be "better" than the others, and let me be perfectly clear here, I mean absolutely no criticism or disrespect to those of you here who give generously of your time and talent to judge shows.
