LOL...you just did Joel!! I pinned this thread for the 2018 edition my friend! Grip-n-rip folks...show us what you got! I myself have a little back-stepping to do! I have some unfinished business before i dig too deep into the new stuff! Pretty much the list of things on my agenda once some personal issues are dealt with!!

was up in Andy's neighborhood checking out three or four new fly rods and two or three new reels, when I decided to visit Hobby Town's new location. Sprinkled in amongst the aircraft kits were a couple dozen kits marked 50% off. Samething over in the armor section. I didn't really see anything I wanted in the armor section except a couple Panzer IIIn kits, and I already have three or four anyway. Over on the aircraft aisle I picked out a Hasegawa 1/72 JU88a4 and a 1/32 BF109g6 from the same. Then I see the 1/32 A6m5c Zero from Hasegawa (the newest one), and grab it. Then for some odd reason I looked up and saw the 1/32 HK Mosquito at 50% off like the others. I left with the Zero and the Mosquito kits, and once again felt like a thief. gary

Had another look at the Zero kit last night to get a rough idea on what paint colors to buy. What a mess! Everything is written in Japanese, and several of the colors don't cross with anything. They really could have done a better job in this area. gary

I am thinking there are more than a couple guys hanging about here that can direct you onto the right path for colors!! something kinda odd but an absolute must is for a board to start a thread for color conversations. A place a fellow modeler can make a request, and get a reasonable answer. Hasegawa converts everything over to Humbrol, and in a few cases just specs a paint color without the slightest hint as to what it is. (with no Humbrol conversion) By the way, I think this Zero is better than the two 1/32 Tamiya Zeros that will set you back $140. HK on the otherhand specs modern paints that can be crossed or at least ordered. Revell is probably as good as anybody for specifying colors. gary

Ooooooh, I totally forgot to start the thread on January 1st. Dang! Just an idea, as it's common for modelers to seek advice on paint colors or even how to mix an oddball color. The more input, the better for everybody. gary

We will have to work up a format that works...something that will be easy to click and look up basic subjects or whatnot.

Looks like my M3 will end up with a bit of brass after all. Shame eduard didn't also include some corrected headlight guards - meh. I'll be using mostly just the tool mountings and tie-downs for the M3, the rest will be incorporated in the M31

Least they claim it didn't. Have not sought out any after market, but liked what I saw right away. So well that I ordered in an M31 kit. I might look for another kit yet. Needs metal barrels and a few other parts gary

Bought one gallon (total) of a A & B resin that's got nothing but positive reviews from buyers on Ebay. Wondered if it had a shelf life on it and told by seller it would be good for at least 6 months and if stored properly, should be good 1 to 3 years. Good enough for me as I plan on making a lot of resin parts this year.
Some Chinese company is offering 1/35th scale eyes for some sort of Japanese animation character series, but will try them to see how they work out vs painting eyes. Both sets of Miniarts stairs for buildings. A set of statues, religious ones. One will be for my diorama The Fountain...as to others, thinking of a cemetery setting, with survivors playing a version of whack a mole against attacking zombies. Bought what 2 praying children for the fountain, but they're only 5/16th of an inch tall?! They were 1/144th scale, something I didn't realize when I bought 'em. The angel is only 7/8th of an inch tall...too small for top level. Ordered 7 more of it for lower tier. 2 dollhouse sugar bowls w/handles. Cut off the handles, make resin copies to they become large flower pots. 3 boxes of Dragons GSG-9 elite series which will become swat people.
Tried uploading photos of everything, but keep being told "no images successfully uploaded" which is a new one on me and I tried different sizes for uploading.
--------------------------- Feb. 2nd update---able to get photos uploaded along with more stuff I bought just in January. The skeleton was suppose to be 2 inches high, but is 2 1/2 inches. Figure on cutting it up as various body parts scattered around on the ground.

I did a lot of work with epoxy resins in my job, and we found that if refrigerated (around 40 degrees) it would at least double the shelf life. The problem then is when you go to use it. Take it out of the cold for at least eight hours prior. I usually took it out the day before. After you open the cans, you must get a complete seal when closing up. Lastly; some epoxies to like to be in bright sunlight or even strong light period. gary

A friend asked me to order some 3D printed drive wheels for his challenger, so I got some goodies for me too. Glacis with applique armour and rear plate to a 183 Factory T-34 And a tanker - very nice, apart from having a rather round, pert bottom considering he's sitting on it. I think I'll call him 'steel buns'

My LHS had the new Tamiya Korean Sherman, but I have two Asuka Korean War Shermans. Also had the new Tamiya BF109g6. Will be interesting to see how well the Asuka suspension parts fit on the Takom hull. Did have a serious look at the new Archer kit from Tamiya. gary

Remember this? Glacis with applique armour 183 Factory T-34 Piece of crap! Not only is the shape wrong, and doesn't fit the Dragon kit it's supposed to be for, but the pattern of the applique armour is wrong too
