At least there's good reference material for these, the Australians have three of these guns at various locations, in addition to one still on what's left of the wreck...
Cheers,

I have got the best Wife in the whole world! For Valentines Day, I got my wife a Ruger Security 9 pistol because she was unhappy with her .380. A gift for me was not necessary as far as I was concerned. However, a box came in the mail today addressed to me. I was not expecting a package, so I was very curious. I opened it up, and, lo and behold, a Iwata HP-CS airbrush kit! I think I'll keep her ;<)

Hi all So last year was not the year I was hoping for on the modelling front for a whole host of reasons......I intend that this year will be different, as indicated by the host of recent arrivals...... ATB Andrew A friend very kindly bought this for my birthday - very considerate if him I think you would agree!! My eyes, even with vari-focal lenses, are not what they once were. This has already seen a lot of use and is really good!! Plus I managed to pick it up at half the RRP and a third cheaper than anywhere else through a contact at my modelling club!! After a recent visit to the RAF Museum at Hendon, my son decided he needed a wingy thing for our battles......I think I might regret having been so open and honest with him about the Typhoon's capabilities..... If he had a wingy thing for our battles - then it was only fair I did too...... The Airfix decals for the ground attack FW 190 were for a unit serving on the Eastern front. I absolutely had order new decals as I had to have one that served on the Western front as he's the Brits in our battles..... RAF Hendon had an Airfix event on when we visited, where you could get a model and paints for only £3 but no decals. So being the dutiful father I had order some for my son and daughter, whilst I was ordering my FW190 set. And of course now I'm also doing wingy things - I had to make sure I had the right paints plus some other extras!!! Rumour has it that the author of this book knows what he's talking about!! Seriously though for any newbies out there this is the best I've seen so far. Yes you can find everything Rob talks about on the web but for me having it one place, in a format I can easily pick up and browse without the need for electricity, from someone who's work speaks for itself is invaluable. The quality of the pictures too are amazing and almost make the book an art of work in and of itself.

In late 2016, got enthused about getting back into modeling....as in zombie/apocalypse dioramas. This diorama was one of many that got me back into modeling and have been going crazy in trying to find the kit. I FINALLY found out not only who made the kit, but where to buy it from....Evilbay of course. This kit arrived last week from Japan and that's when I found out there are TWO different bus kits from Arii even though they're both marked as Bxd-30 type buses. So of course, HAD TO buy the other which should arrive within the next week or so. Enclosed is a photo of the diorama I'm talking about and now realize the modeler used a JAPANESE school bus instead of an American one. As you can see, it'll take a lot of work to make my original bus into an American one, but maybe not so much with the latest purchase.

More goodies from, what is quickly becoming, my favourite ebayer. The figures were about half price, the conversion about a third of RRP: And a while back a parcel from my friend Neo arrived. The Armor35 figs are almost impossible to get in Germany, unless you're prepared to buy pirate copies for 14€ - in Russia they cost about 8€ This is the ICM kit reboxed for the Russian market and selling for an unbelieveably low price of about a tenner

Andrew, where did you obtain the compressor from? Hi Joel Thanks for stopping by. I'm not sure where you are but I'm in the UK. I got it from Amazon ( here) and it cost me £80 (its now £84). I'm not an expert but it seems to be from a range of generic compressors that companies put their own branding on. This is the single cylinder/piston version (all seem to have AS186 in the name) and can be found on Amazon, ebay etc. Search for " airbrush compressor AS186" and you can't go wrong. There appears to be a double cylinder/piston version that has AS196 in the title, which obviously costs a bit more. I've not used it yet as it only arrived yesterday but I have ready plenty of reviews that say it's ok and then there is obviously Sean's and Peter's personal recommendations - given the quality of their work I trust their opinions. I know in Sean's case he said the airbrushes were fine to use but of course he may have just been lucky on the quality front. In terms of noise it's supposedly 47Db when up and running. I hope that helps and let me know if you want to know how I get on. All the best. Andrew

a couple weeks ago I picked up the new Airfix JU87b2, and really liked the plastic. Yesterday I dropped by the LHS to pick up a decal sheet, only to find they tossed them! So I had a look around the shop and saw another Airfix JU87 in 1/48th. Grabbed it, and headed to the register when I glanced to my right and saw one of the new Revell FW190a8 kits. I grabbed it as well! Now I'm ordering a second FW190 to build a night fighter as well. gary

went to the LHS today with the grand scheme of buy the Revell 1/48th Tornado kit. Had the kit in my hands when I noticed a bunch of new Airfix kits. Had a look to see what was there, and saw the new 1/72 scale Phantom and the B25 kits. Picked up a pair of the B25's.
Kits look OK. Decals suck as usual. Not real sure about the way they did the wings, but we'll see later. I think their He111 kits were better. The interior is kinda lack luster like most of their kits, but for most people it'll do. For sure the kit needs after market engines. I still think this can easily be turned into a very nice kit. gary

Sounds like a nice haul Gary! about a week prior, I picked up two Fw190's in 1/32 scale. The new A8 and their F8 kits. Somebody is doing a 14 blade fan with the right spinner & props to convert the F8 to an F9 or A9. Also have two 1/32 Revell Mustangs coming. Kinda mulling over all these new Panthers coming out from everywhere. More interested in an early Panther D than the others, but perhaps a Panther A might in there as well. gary

I opened one of the kit bags tonight for a serious look. Panel lines look like they're in 1/48th! I don't exactly like the way they did the cowls, and may result in some fill and sanding. Engines are junk and almost toy like. Clear parts look better than the Hasegawa, but the ribbing once again looks to be excessive. Turret glass is fine, but the internals flat look like a fourth grader designed them. Virtually zero detail but for the two lack luster machine guns. Cockpit doesn't begin to look like any photo I've seen, but most will be hidden. Decals look like they are off a dot matrix printer.
All in all, the 27 dollar Revell JU88 makes this kit look like something out of the 1970's. Will not consider another unless it's under ten bucks. gary

Hi all Well this weekend saw two more arrivals - and they didn't even cost me a penny!! Very good friends of ours got married at the weekend and I helped out by running the sound systems for the bands they had at the wedding service and then in the evening for the reception. I'm not a drinker (never acquired the taste - odd I know!!) so after consultaton with my son in his capacity as 'Modelling Deputy Head Honcho' in our house, the below was their way of saying thanks for my help!! How kind of them wouldn't you agree? ATB Andrew

Picked up the new Revell 1/48th Tornado F.3 ADV. Looks like a very nice kit. Lots of parts in the box (297 to be exact). Markings for No. 111 and No.23 Squadrons that are very nice and sharp. Lots of bombs and rockets to hang on it as well as a full set of decals for the weapons. First thing that caught my eyes were the canopy details, and the positional wings. This is the second kit my LHS has gotten in, and I can see why it flew off the shelf. Looks like an outstanding kit. I'll probably buy a second one ($30!!!!!!)
highly recommended to at least take a look gary
