That looks fantastic John! Great work on the interior and tail code. Did you cut the masks with your plotter-cutter? Oddly enough the kit included a sheet of vinyl lettering of the proper size and shape for this year (1975) model of Cessna. So I used these when painting the N number. But the much smaller “Skyhawk II” was done on the Silhouette Cameo as well as the wingtip decoration which I haven’t photoed yet.

Is that exhaust or oil stains on the underbelly?

Is that exhaust or oil stains on the underbelly? YES!The exhaust stains are only really seen on the cowling. Everything aft of the firewall will be oil which had made its way to the lowest places of thegine compartment. Making the whole mixture much more vivid is the dust and grime which stick to the oil to create a black paste.

Thanks for following along, gents. The Cessna is still getting those small details, like footsteps and grab handles. But I have begun work on the sole figure which will be posed with the model as well as a wooden base. Although somewhat hidden in the dark blue paint, the hand holds for refueling have been added. Wear and scratches at the leading edges of the fuel tanks was a standard feature on any Cessna used for training. Ebay was holding this guy hostage in China. So I paid his ransom demand, a reasonable $13, including shipping. The cowlings will be in the scene, set aside on a bench. Fake stone spray paint.
