Instead of finishing the two projects I have going I decided to start another foolish me. The Italeri M4A1 is molded smooth and slick so I decided to do the old putty trick to rough it up some, add some Dragon parts and an Aber metal barrel 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr How the texture worked out under paint 003 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Sherman turned out thus 005 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr The Cromwell is by Tammy thus not much needs to be said. This is OOB 006 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Basic layout 004 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Other stuff that will be included 007 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Some stuff still in transit from the Ukraine. This one's gonna be figure heavy Regards, Mark

I like it. The Cromwell looks like a hot rod, can't help it.

Thanks Leon
Am engaged in an interest slump lately so I've been avoiding the bench by way of not making this work instead of fun. No doubt soon my creative (destructive?) side will ingnite again and I'll jump back on this; should not be long before it's ten degrees with the Montana wind howling away

Thanks gents I have finally finished this. Much to my dismay I found that putting figures in front of the tanks ruined the whole scene; as a matter of fact anything I put there did not look right. I also found out I can't paint scale horses worth a damn either so here it is with just a few changes 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 005 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 007 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 008 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 011 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 013 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr And that's all she wrote Regards, Mark

It's funny isn't it how something that you think will look good in your mind's eye turns out to be something different when you actually go to place it! Good call on leaving the tanks on the road unobstructed, the groundwork and gap in between IMHO are enough to help draw the viewer's eye into the area beyond with the figures, shed, etc. Also have to say that you've got some nice split-wood there in that wagon! As for horses, they are a tough subject to tackle, so don't feel bad on that score, the end result is effective without them. I am a little curious about the OD splatter on the wall...past casualty of a clogged airbrush tip or something else? I only ask because my paint-room has a couple similar spots and I know exactly when/where they happened even though the incidents in question happened several years ago. The evidence, in the form of burnt umber in my case, still remains as a reminder not to do what I did again!

Bill the split wood was easy, it was a donation from the troublesome bush by the driveway that refuses to take a shape despite my best efforts. Spatter on the wall was from an open bottle of Tammy OD that popped out of my fingers...and it was full too dammit. This required a replacement trip to the LHS where I saw a Dragon STUG III final production with zimmerit and I ended up leaving with that also.
An expensive bottle of paint to be sure

I like the figs out of the way yet still very much in the story. Given the circumstances, I think it works better than having them in the road, too close to the tanks.
