Hi Guys, you're all very kind, thank you! Here's the latest, the seat pad has been added and the exhausts rubbed back (again) repainted and fitted before I change my mind.

Hi fella
The pipes were base coated in grey primer and then two or three light coats of Humrol Aerosol Chrome Silver. The Chrome Silver stays fairly soft for a while so avoid too much handling for a day or so. The black on the underside of the bodyparts is Tamiya XF-69 Nato Black brush painted in a couple of light coats, the remainder is painted using Tamiya Aerosol TS-29 Semi Gloss Black.

Thanks Boots, we're getting there. Right, participation feature. Here is a pic of the hugger for the rear wheel. I have been dabbling with carbon fibre decal and have partly covered it. Because of the multi curved nature of the part, I find it impossible to get one piece of decal to cover the whole thing successfully so have been applying it in strips. So, my question to the learned audience is, shall I persevere or does it look so grim that I should I strip it off and paint it semi gloss black like the destructions. Bear in mind also the size of the part and the colour of the decal... Thanks chaps!

I'm so weak I ordered the detail up set for it which should be here in a couple of days, I have reached the point where I can't do much except prep a few parts and wait.

Thanks Paul. To be honest, I am concerned about the CF, I will make another judgement once I have completed it.

And so onwards. Now I can get going again, having finshed for Christmas I plan to try and get this one sorted sooner rather than later. Using two of the detail up parts and some decals I am able to sort the swingarm. Neat little assembly that just needs to be added to the frame soon. More soon, thanks for sticking with me...

Hi Boots, thank you. Yes, the detail up sets can be expensive, this one came from Korea for half the UK price.

67, Guy, thanks fellas, it really does help the overall look...providing you can find the detail up sets cheap enough! Ok, nailed one area I never look forward to on GP bikes, the pinstripes on the wheels . But tackle them we must so with a large glass of red (to steady my hands) I set off. The stripes come in three sections per side so you lay one on, lots of Microsol to settle it then leave to almost completely dry before moving on to the next. Expect to go back over them with more 'Sol' once they are dry, it's very easy to miss bits. Then it was the manufacturer logo to add each side and then leave well alone! Glad that's done!

Prof looks the business. whats microsol Paul

Post by Mence on Dec 16, 2011 13:33:10 GMT -5
Hi Paul, thank you.
Microsol is cunning stuff, essential for car / bike builders.
It's a clear fluid that you apply before / after place your decal on your model. It softens the decal, helping it conform to irregular shapes and contours, also helps the decal stick a little better too.
Grab some mate, you'll need it...

Thanks jackwagon, they're far from perfect but they're on now so they'll have to do. Maybe I should have had two glasses of red rather than one...
