This diorama was inspired by the cover of a 1938 Popular Science magazine. I love the old PS magazine stories where they highlight the 'newest' and 'latest' weaponry. The "Tumbleweed Tank" supposedly designed by a guy in Texas was basically a rolling ball. The crew was housed in an inner shell while the two outer shell pieces turned like wheels. There is a slight difference in the cover art and the finished piece as I took artistic liberty and combined the attributes of the cover art and the art work that accompanied the article. The figure is from Andrea Miniatures. The "tank" was scratch built using various evergreen plastic pieces and a 4" dia. plastic xmas ornament. This was built a few years back and has placed favorably in a couple of contests here in Cali.
