A two step authentication with a staff member having a look might help.
One that prevents from posting by registering only, so you have to wait a bit.

Why,you don't want to read about the guy catching 54 pieces of popcorn in his mouth😀 Let me think quickly... no. Maybe if he catches 54 Wehrmacht figures in 1/35 in his mouth.

Unfortunately I'm not up on web page maintenance enough to know how to enable a mod-checked membership procedure...and most of the other mods are somewhat MIA.

Everyone is on Facebook now except me and I try to drop in every day and see how things are going. I've noticed the spammers to. Wish I could get rid of them.

So just another tumbleweed forum then, like many others, Facebook has killed everything, Britmodeller seems to be about the only forum left with any activity tbh

You are absolutely right about Facebook killing everything.

I have little use for it anymore. Same here, I hate Facebook with a passion, and the format is absolutely useless for model making content in my opinion, Facebook posting tends to go like this - Someone posts a picture, 30,40,50,60 people drop a like on the picture, then someone posts another picture, 30,40,50,60 likes, rinse n repeat... how on earth anyone can think that that is useful in terms of model making content is beyond me to be honest. The only advantage is that it removes the need for 3rd party picture hosting.

Yeah that's the only advantage there!

OK, off topic: Why should a modeler forum compete against FB better than a local shop does against AMZ?
The key is what people want. Most people who are asking for "constructive comments" in forums in fact mean simply commendation. This is what they get from likes. Front door delivery...
Last thing they want to hear is that their shirt looks awful with their shoes. I met a lot of people in forums who ended up on my ignore filter soon after my first constructive comment I wrote to them.
A forum that seems to stand the test of time is missing-lynx, but I'm hardly there because I find there are too many fundamentalists in it. Except for the German spoken section of missing-lynx, which is even more dead than just dead.
