Since I'm actually working on this one I thought I'd do a thread on it. My goal is to do an early Easy Eight, ETO, with the split loader's hatch, so I dug up an old Dragon turret and blended in the very nice Talya mantlet and mount. I'll be using some brass, Friuls and a few bits from the spares boxes, but not a lot. Grab handles are core tag wire, my favorite as it's soft enough to bend easily and already steel colored: I hate to have to touch up brass wire. IMG_7141 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I used older Tamiya hull hatches since they were easier to shave the closed periscope covers off of and add "open" ones. My mixture of brass and plastic brush guards, below: IMG_7142 by Russel Baer, on Flickr In my humble opinion, the brass is actually too thin, with most plastic being hugely thick, so I thinned the siren guard, a Dragon part. And the rear deck, so far, with thinned plastic light guards and wire grab handles: IMG_7144 by Russel Baer, on Flickr This is a really nice kit and could easily give a fine replica OOB, but I'm genetically incapable of that.

Is this the only track pattern for a WWII Easy Eight, or could the more V-shaped type also be used?

I'm no expert, but I would say yes,I Googled a lot of WWII images and they show both tracks,in particular numerous pictures of Fury show the tracks with the V

T66 track was the initial pattern. T84 was the next pattern and remained the preferred pattern up to the 80's

Yup, check your references, the T-66 was the initial type but plenty of tanks were seen with the T-80 too. The "Fury" tank had the T-84 rubber outer with the chevron, a peacetime development to prevent tearing roads up in both Europe and Japan, and maybe here too. Not much to show, been very busy at work, but the turret is getting real close. This is my first time using Archer casting marks, I'm sold. IMG_8572 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_8571 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Paint shop is about to be backed up....
