I am brand new to forum today. I have been modeling since 1965 and am this close to getting the hang of it . I build aircraft almost exclusively, coming from an A-6E Intruder pilot background. Probably 75% of my models are from WWII and most, though not all, are allied. I usually only build in 1/48 and 1/32 but have been concentrating a lot more on "braille scale" the last 20 or so years. Partly because I can pack a lot more scratchbuilt detail into them and partly because my 63 year old eyes aren't as good as they used to be. I am not really sure when I actually got into super-detailing and scratchbuilding, but I would say it was sometime in the early 1990's. Before that I built mostly OOB but would still add the odd extra details. I have really enjoyed taking the old 1960's and 1970's 1/32 Revell kits, which pretty much no one builds any more and I can pick up for a pittance and pretty much pitching everything except the external pieces and sometimes the canopies and just scratch building everything else. It makes for a long process, up to a year and sometimes several thousand scratch built parts but it is what I enjoy doing. I have an ALPS MD-5000 which does give me the flexibility to make my own decals. I am coming off an 8 year AMS burnout hiatus but am anxious to get back into it. I just pulled the Trumpeter 1/32 SBD-5 Dauntless out of the stash and have spend the last few days deciding what I am going to do with it.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Sadly things have gotten quiet over the time. Too many people have changed places, Facebook is killing the activity around here. Nevertheless I'm looking forward to see your work. I got the Trumpeter A-6 in 1/32 in my stash. Love this bird and the F-14, though I do mostly tanks

Welcome! Sadly enough, Tobi is correct. This used to be a very active forum, lots of absolutely amazing modeling, but it's down to about five people active on it now.
