Man.....the good model turnouts just keep on coming. Very detailed diorama with some great building techniques involved.
Which kit is that Huey from?

I was a crewchief for 8+ years and it was the best job I ever had.

In their infinite wisdom the Canadian Army sent me to Germany for two years back in the 70s with the specific job of fueling helicopters in the field. The fact that Canada had no helicopters in Germany at that time was irrelevant. I did get to pour fuel into a pile of different NATO aircraft though.

Funny how an agency as big as the military can send us for a specific job and then when we get there......it turns into something totally different. The memories that come with that are most always good though when we think about how few of us get to participate in stuff like that.

We had very few resources back then so in the morning I could be pumping jet fuel into a Belgian Starfighter and after lunch swap out the modular fuel pods in the truck and be pouring gasoline into a jeep in the field.

Man, I love this scene! That you have a personal connection to it makes it even more special.
I love all the details, you even have a Mermite can in there. I have a real one I use as an indestructible cooler at times) They are getting hard to find anymore, especially with the inserts.

I have a real one I use as an indestructible cooler at times) They are getting hard to find anymore, especially with the inserts. Those Mermite cans were good. But...by the time my 1st Shirt got to my location (we were on reforger in Germany and I was way up front in the woods above Hohenfels..11D20 Scout)
The coffee tasted like cough syrup...the powdered scramble eggs had turned GREEN and the bacon & the toast was as hard as hockey pucks! Soooo...I grabbed a few slices of the bacon, diluted the coffee with canteen water, poured some on the bread to soften it up a little, put the bacon between the now SOFTER bread and ate it! My crew (5 guys) saw me do that and thee of them followed suit. I'll tell ya...that tasted better than some of the WWII C rations we had on board our M113 A1.
tcoat...The M113 APC and M551 Sheridan in your dio...really look good. Brought back some GREAT memories. Very good Builds. The Huey just flat looks AWESOME!

Great job on the dios, the figures, vehicle and huey are well done.
I worked with a Vietnam vet named Lynn Bates, who was a crew chief on a huey, one of my best friends who I miss dearly.
