This is the 1/35 Trumpeter kit 01507 and depicts the very last war time Sd.Kfz.7 version with the wooden cab and body (Holzpritsche) built on the m11 chassis. Due to the kit's engineering all their 8-ton variants can be challenging and at times frustrating to build. The only additions are a Quick wheel resin front wheel set and the headlights have been replaced with the small 'later' style. The overall look of the cargo tilt has been improved with VMS paper and shaper and integrated into the kit's moulding. It was painted with MRP lacquer paints and weathered with MIG enamels and Abtielung oils.

Mister......you are really making me want to get one of these tracks. What an outstanding job on the construction, painting and weathering of this old workhorse. I've always liked the looks of these vehicles and this one just looks so dang real!!!

Oh my gosh, this is my pick for my favorite build seen this month! WOWsers! Just stunning!!! I might need to look into picking up this kit myself!
Can you go into more detail on the VMS paper? …I’ve no idea what that is, and how you used it…I take it that’s what the cargo covering is? And where did you get the resin from wheels? And lastly, did those tracks come with the kit?

Can you go into more detail on the VMS paper? …I’ve no idea what that is, and how you used it…I take it that’s what the cargo covering is? And where did you get the resin from wheels? And lastly, Thank you, glad you like it. The kit is far more challenging to build than any of the Dragon equivalent variants but if you know the pitfalls (of which there is quite a list) it builds and paints up nice. A full SBS build log with all the issues and fixes can be found here: smallislandscalemodels.blogspot.com/2022/As regards to the VMS paper, VMS is a brand www.vms-supplies.com/vms-paper-shaper that sell all sorts of modelling goodies. Their Varnishes are also extremely effective. A couple of things worth mentioning are: It will tear if manipulated too much when wet. Overspill can be cleaned with VMS 'Clean slate' and always, always use it before adding any paint. On this model I used it over the kit moulding to improve the canvas detail and added the rear flaps to overhang loose. The resin wheels are a Quickwheel product. They are most famous for their wheel masks these days, but they used to sell resin wheels. You might be lucky and find a distributer with stock online, but their own site has not shown availability for a long time. I was fortunate in that I liked them so much I bought around six sets some time ago. There are a few other manufacturers selling them now including DEF Model and Panzerart. The tracks are indeed kit tracks. Each link is in three parts and with care assembling will easily articulate.

Simply beautiful work. Your painting and weathering look real (that is the highest compliment I know)
Is the canvas cover made entirely with the VMS paper?

Simply beautiful work. Your painting and weathering look real (that is the highest compliment I know) Is the canvas cover made entirely with the VMS paper? Much appreciated. I covered the kit tilt cover moulding in VMS paper using their shaper liquid. The moulding is fine and fits well but I felt it too uniform and looking at images of the real vehicle the canvas detail was a little different. I left the strap detail on and butted up the paper to it. If I were to do it all again, I would cover it a little deeper so it overlapped the side panels a little more, but I was restricted by the size of the VMS paper sheets. Only on the rear where I could apply the paper turned 90 degrees could I add the extra length and imply a little movement. Los
