I started this one last week and have the body painted and rubbed out. The hood had to be stripped and re-painted but that is done now along with all the other parts. The color is Dupli-Color Dark Toreador Metallic which is close to the 1971 Olds color Sienna Metallic. The interior will be a dark leather using Krylon Satin Brown Boots. Time to get started with foil. Thanks for looking!

That is such a beautiful color JR!! What a great shine you brought to it as well. Got any upgrades you're gonna do to the engine?

I need to do something shiny, too, once my bench is set up again.

Thanks, Joe and Tobi! I'll probably just wire the engine and plumb the heater hoses. Finished the interior. Paint is Krylon Satin Brown Boots to look like leather. There are wood grain decals in the kit that I applied but not much contrast with the paint color I chose. Trim is BMF and some chrome pen. Thanks for looking!

Great job on the interior, jr. And that body is way too cool!! The paint is 5 miles deep.

Great job on the interior, jr. And that body is way too cool!! The paint is 5 miles deep. I was gonna say something along those lines but was also going to comment on the BMF usage in the interior. You get your BMF looking so dang good JR!! Nice and sharp lines without so much as a hint of a wrinkle or a semi-smoothed out fold line anywhere.

Thanks, Gary, Joe and John! I appreciate your comments! I completed the engine and then voila - interior meets body, body and interior meet engine and chassis! Almost done! But it wasn't that easy - The interior fit well into the body but when installing the chassis with engine in the body I had to move the distributor forward a bit to clear the firewall. Of course, that moved the large air cleaner off the engine. The fan still wouldn't clear the edge of the shroud, so I removed the shroud, pushed the chassis and engine in between the inner fenders, then with the chassis still loose wiggled the fan shroud back into place and re-glued it. Then, glued the chassis to the inner fenders. Now if I use the air cleaner to push back on the distributor a bit while I glue it in place without breaking the stem on the distributor, I'll be in business! But first, I have some plumbing to do in the engine compartment before I can attempt that. Engine wiring using pre-wired distributors can cause some problems and the kit manufacturers don't leave enough room to install anything other than kit pieces. This engine is really packed in there! I don't know how I am going to get the heater hose that comes off the right side of the back of the engine in there. Maybe I won't! Thanks for looking! 😎

Sometimes I cringe when I'm putting the body over the chassis that stuff like this won't happen. Sorry to hear about the blues JR. If it's any consolation, you are certainly making the best out of a bad situation.

Thanks, Joe, Gary, and Leon! I appreciate your comments! Finished the engine bay including heater hoses, radiator hoses, and air conditioning plumbing. I managed to curl the back heater hose from the back of the engine over the coil and into the firewall. The other heater hose runs from the water pump under the air conditioning compressor and into the firewall. I managed to get the large air cleaner on and I think I can tweak it a little bit to get the hood to sit down a little better. I also painted a set of wheels and used Fireball Modelworks Goodyear tire decals insteat of the kit supplied Firestones. Thanks for looking!

Such clean work that you pull off JR. Details are nicely done, BMF is second to NONE and the paint work is just out of this world. What do you use for polishing?

Thanks, Gary and Joe! I appreciate your comments! I use 4000 - 8000 polishing cloths and Scratch-X for polishing followed by Meguiars Gold Class wax. This one is done and this kit is a winner! The decals were great and I did cut the side stripe about 7/16" from the back of the front wheel bend in the decal to approximate the door line cut and it worked out great! I have another in the closet that I bought just the other day as this one will be built again! Outdoor photos today - Thanks for looking! It certainly IS a winner in more ways than one JR!! Beautiful paint work, impeccable BMF job and detailing are all superb. I've seen folks us Meguiar's wax before and may give that a go. I'm still using Novus which works good so far but I'm always looking to improve.

Thanks, Jeremy and Andy! I appreciate your comments! This one took 2nd place in Factory Stock at the HAMS contest last Saturday. I guess it is my best effort this year. I've got another one in the closet so I may have to build it again!

Beautiful! I have one of these (Revell AG as the decals are better) in the build queue for later this year. Undecided what color to paint it, however.
