Anyone have good links to sites that give good reference material on things like armored vehicle part names? Pointing out parts of a tank, like mantlet, drive wheels, sprockets, thigemabobs, and so on.

Not that I'm aware of. There are sites that would deal with a certain tank and even sites with tweak lists for different model kits.

There's a real need for that, and for airplanes, too. So people will say empennage instead of tail wings. Or at least horizontal stabilizer and elevators. As for me and tanks, I could really use a good reference site unless its a part that has an analogue in crawler tractors.

What about some of the Haynes repair manuals?

Agreed… I’ve seen a few, tank specific online sources, but so far, rarely with a breakdown of part names…and when they are, it’s only a couple parts. There's a real need for that, and for airplanes, too. So people will say empennage instead of tail wings. Or at least horizontal stabilizer and elevators. As for me and tanks, I could really use a good reference site unless it’s a part that has an analogue in crawler tractors. Agreed, as well, on the need. I’ve also seen a few instances where folks call a part by multiple names and it just confuses things further. What about some of the Haynes repair manuals? WOW, these look amazing! Not terribly pricey…I’ve seen them on Amazon for north of $25, which isn’t too bad at all. Looks like a Chilton’s manual I’d seen in my young buck days hanging around the local Motorhead’s, lol! Based on a quick look, it could be a good reference, especially where it goes so in-depth on every part, inside and out,

I was thinking that if I were in the market for part ID info that this is where I'd look. It's worth a try.
