Looks cool. Everyone loves a great looking Panther! I dig the added interest of the steel road wheel and track pins. Are you doing a specific vehicle or just going wherever it takes you?
Man, I really need to add an Ausf G to my stash... well, and a D too.

Oh yeah!!! I'm with Dave on what scheme you'll be going with. I really admire armor builders......so much attention to detail. Looking forward to the next update Mike.

I see I missed putting the grab handle over the rear turret hatch, I will have to remedy that.

Very handsome Panther. I'm excited to see "Wherever this takes you" evolves into. Sweet work so far though.

Great work on this fella......looks terrific.

If I'm not totally off the mark, the steel wheel on the last station identifies this as one of the very last MAN Nuremberg Panthers.

The camo is a scheme from a MAN Co Panther manufactured March 1945 and knocked out or abandoned April 45. The track link turret protection is my addition, I have always liked the look. Well, more to do on it.

Nice progress. Did you do the camo from reference pictures or do you have a scheme to share? The colors are free hand brush painted, aren't they? A difficult task to get it that smooth without strokes and opaque at the same time. Good job!

The camo scheme is from the instruction sheet, there are also pictures on a, I think missing-lynx page. And yes to free hand brush painting.

Nice job on the brush camo. I am guessing that it is all a matter of getting the paint dilution correct? Did you use a wet palette? (Something I have not yet used...) I also see some dry brushing. It's a technique I stopped using for the most part a while ago, but it works and it looks good. That dude from Laser Creation World uses it to great effect as have you.
What are ya gonna do for the Panther GB? Nothing like doing back 2 back Panthers ya know!

Interesting you mention "wet palette" as I had never heard this term before until a month or so ago when I got some wargaming figures to try out and checked into painting them. I guess that's my long way of saying I haven't tried it yet either. What do you use instead of drybrushing? Salt technique? That's another thing I have not tried. Until late last year I had pretty much given up on model building for the last 8 years except for the odd 1/72 scale airplane kit, it just wasn't fun anymore. But now that I'm retired I went looking through some of my stash and decided to give it another go by finishing a Late Tiger1 that was pretty much finished at the time. And now, for the time at least, it is enjoyable again.

But now that I'm retired I went looking through some of my stash and decided to give it another go by finishing a Late Tiger1 that was pretty much finished at the time. And now, for the time at least, it is enjoyable again. Yeah, that's kind of a great question. To get the same effect I use some color modulation with the main paint job using the airbrush. I will also just straight up paint raised details a slightly lighter color. That mixed with pin washes and such. But yeah, I'm not really sure why I stopped other than I have always tried to use something new on my builds technique-wise. That's part of the enjoyment for me, maybe overcoming a fear to try or pulling off something I didn't think I could. There will always be something to learn. Anyway, I'm not sure the salt technique is used for the same reason. It is just to add color variation on surfaces, not so much as to emphasize raised details like dry brushing. And I'm glad you're back at it and that you're finding some enjoyment in it. That's the most important thing!

I was telling Dave and I'll say the same thing to you, it's threads like these that a lot can be learned from. Deeper discussion reveals a TON of information in regard to techniques and skills. Looking forward to not only more progress but learning along the way as well.

Thank you Silverado. This is a picture of the Tiger that got me back into model building. It's the old Italeti kit with the zimmerit panels you glued on. This version came with p/e for the grill work and fenders. I went with an early spring paint job with most of the whitewash worn off.

I'm sure there are folks that don't really care for the Zimmerit panels but at this point in my modeling career I'd be using them. lol Great job on that Tiger Mike. Love all the detailing and weathering.
