Looks fantastic Joe, I've stared at my dash many times and you nailed this. I am surprised the kit didn't put the passenger side air deflector / vent control knob next to the vent. My wife would kill someone on a hot day without that vent blasting air in Lol. The astro ventilation system just allows more hot air into my car. Between that and the heat coming from the dash it's like a convection oven in there.

Oh I know it! But the Wife would rather have a hair dryer blowing on her than no air movement blow the waist in this even with the top down. On hot sunny days I have to cover the chrome shift knob or it burns my hand
And before anyone can say it yeah I know " waaaaah boo-hoo it's hot in my red Corvette convertible"

I could've went for one of those new fancy radios but also felt it would add more interest with the radio with a CD hanging out of it as well asd the nostalgia factor. lol

Well Heck ya. A cassette player would've been cool also. Even better yet...an 8 track! Now that's back there in the time Machine. That's what I did with Tim Feilds 57 chevy that Him and His Dad built together. I don't remember if I posted that car here or not.

I've gotta thank Brent (aka handiabled) for helping me out on the battery compartment cover. At first I thought it was removable but he provided me pictures of his car showing that the access cover is actually hinged. I used a strip of thin paper for the hinge plate and used some screw heads from The Model Car Garage to replicate the hinge to panel retaining screws as well as the nut and screw at and near the latch assembly (which was fabricated from a leftover PE fret) and PRESTO....a hinged access panel.

Way to channel your inner creativity Joe. The battery compartment realistically looks the part. Smartly done.

I've got all the parts cut laid out here for the steering column build up ready for the clean up process. Looks like it's all there.....turn signal lever (needle), keys, key ring, ignition switch bezel (that I'll be adding finger tabs onto), spokes and horn button. Holes are drilled in the column for the turn signal lever and for the ignition key to go into once the bezel is in place.

Really great stuff. Loving it. Thanks Kyle. Hopefully everything goes well with the body prepwork and then paint & decaling processes. I've already done a complete mock up of this car with one kit when I first started the build. I've already seen how this car goes together and have identified all the problem areas with the build already.
