I appreciate the comments kyledehart5, deafpanzer and 70 STING. I was hoping to get some progress on this thing this past weekend but I should be able to start on it again this week.

This is some insanely AWESOME work, Joe!!! I love the detail or your post write-ups, too… it’s helping me imagine how you achieve different elements. This genre of modeling is so foreign to me… I just have the toy-like builds of my youth as reference experience, and this is truly art from level work. You obviously have that passion I see in so many modelers here at the forum, who love to dig down deep push the lim its; always add to their bag of tricks; always strive to move that needle. KUDOS!!!

Oh, I am such a C3 Corvette fan. You are doing this one serious justice! It’s the little things like getting that battery compartment right. that sweet looking engine and I just love the CD upgrade. So glad to see you change that stance. That’s the one thing that just destroys that kit from the start. Takes your talent to straighten it out. now I wanna see something custom under the hood…

Thank you alot for that wealth of a compliment Emery. I see myself as an average builder. I'm just learning from all the masters around me. Oh, I am such a C3 Corvette fan. Takes your talent to straighten it out. now I wanna see something custom under the hood… I appreciate your comments as well Chris. No custom on this one as it's gonna be mostly stock. This build has taken a bit of a back seat as of late so I can make all the repairs and corrections to my 67 Mustang prior to taking her to the show along with several other first time to show cars. I'll be back on this one soon after the show in a couple of weeks.

I’m a little late getting to this party Joe, but you’re doing some amazing work so far! Really looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us. I have this same kit in my queue that I’m hoping to get into paint before winter. We’ll see. Still don’t have a definitive plan for what I want to do to it yet.

Thanks for the good word Jeremy and sorry for the late reply. These are indeed great kits and it’s building up nicely despite some design flaws that I’m finding along the way.
I was gonna build on it some today but came down with the flu or something early this morning. Today has NOT been fun which will explain my absence today. Hopefully this all clears up soon.

Man that sucks Joe. Being sick in the summer is the worst. Drink some OJ, take some Advil, and get cracking on this kit! Seriously, hope you get feeling better brother.

Back at the bench now gang!! I worked on the suspension yesterday and today and sanded all of the molded in wiring off of the inner fender liners/ engine sidewalls. I'll be going back with actual wire harnesses from scratch on this one. I had the front suspension all painted up and ready for the application of tonal variations between parts when I noticed something off. One thing I learned at the Nats was not to "let certain things go" and I almost did it here. See the mold lines going cordwise on the leading edges of the control arms? I sanded them off and re-applied the paint. There.....much better!

You are right about that Joe. In the Nationals they stress modeling basics above all else and will automatically discard a model for leaving mold lines, glue marks, silvering on decals, etc.

I’m not certain that I would’ve even noticed that mold line in any of my own work. Seeing the before and after right next to each other though sure brings it into focus. I need to do better about that stuff myself. That’s all looking super nice Joe.

Thanks for the good comments fellas. mrversatile: I hear what you're saying Gil. I watched some of the folks perusing over the models and pointing out totally obvious stuff that builders should've caught. I know once I gave mine a brutally honest look over I found all kinds of stuff that I hadn't noticed till that point. kyledehart5: It's very easy to overlook certain things like mold lines going cordwise right down the middle of leaf springs and such. I've done it for sure and am trying to wisen up to things a little more. handiabled: They are easily overlooked as you very well know. Hope all is going well with you pal. Will reach out again next week. buddho: Thanks for the good word brother. A little progress while I'm commenting here and there. This is around two weeks work and believe me.....what you're seeing here is anything but a boring black suspension. There are 3 different shades of that color along with some other similar but different colors splashed here and there. Still gotta put the brakes and wheel backs on, install the crossmember and exhaust system and apply black BMF to the fuel tank retaining straps.

Glad to see that you're feeling better and back at it again, Joe! I'm right there with you on the mold lines on the chassis. Nearly every part on my Mustang chassis has been painted and repanted at least 3 times for exactly that reason. I think that I'm ready to move on to the next step, do an inspection on the part, and find yet another remnant of a mold line that I missed. I kept telling myself "Oh...its just one line...nobody will even know its there", and then the voice in my head chimes in "But I'll know its there" That's all looking really awesome!

Thank you fellas for the replies and comments. I hear ya Eagle. I've been down that repainting road numerous times and it aint NO fun. lol Little bit by little bit the chassis is getting more complete. About the only things I have left to do now is the exhaust install, apply black BMF over the fuel tank retaining straps and tone down that crossmember to a semi-gloss finish. That'll be easy enough to do as it's just laid in place in the photo below. I will say that getting the exhaust pipe placement may be a little tricky but what I'll do to help that process along is to build another mockup engine from one of the three kits that I have of this car and tack into the chassis so that they'll be in just the right spot.

Good to see you back on this one. Chassis is looking great so far. I almost want to talk you into mounting the redline tires to the outside rather than in. ( I love those redline tires on Vettes)

Had some time today to get some major progress done in regard to the chassis. Managed to clean the exhaust pipes up of all mold lines and paint them up. Mufflers were treated to a Matte Aluminum BMFing. I mocked up a spare engine and set it in place with the chassis upside down to give me an idea of where to position the exhaust and once positioned, installed the crossmember and glued everything into place. I also received my Black BMF in the mail yesterday so I was able to put that down over the fuel tank retaining straps. Pretty much finished up here save for the exhaust tips installation which will happen once the body is installed permanently over the chassis/ interior module.

That's really looking good. Hey how did you like the black bmf? I heard it can be a little thick and hard to work with. Thanks Jeremy. It is indeed tricky to work with. Doesn't seem to stick as good as the aluminum or chrome BMF but I was ready for that. Being thick was actually an attribute on these straps as it really brought 'em out.
