Hello everyone. I am happy to be here. I fell in love with airplane models of the stick-and-tissue variety then moved to plastic kits. From there I moved to resin garage kits of science fiction subjects. For me, subjects would range from aircraft of WWI and WWII to spacecraft from “Star Trek,” “Star Wars” and “2001: A Space Odyssey.” My proboards handle of "speedgraflex" ties into my work as a photographer and director. I studied theater in London and Chicago and filmmaking at the American Film Institute. My home base is Santa Monica, California. I look forward to being a member of your community and learning from everyone here. Bruce

This site has some of the friendliest and most talented builders on it that I've seen on pretty much any forum. I'm definitely looking forward to catching up and seeing more of your work here brother.

Welcome, I'm mostly just a lurker here, heckling from the shadows in the cheap seats (or SEAT, I drive a Toledo. Did I mention I'm a bit, well, strange; I think that proves it). Rather than assemble any of the ever-expanding stash of kits I'm no longer capable of doing justice to, nowadays I mainly amuse myself (when I can rouse myself to do anything constructive) by collecting bits of plastic that can be glued with normal polystyrene cement from the "El Cheapo" shops (cutlery, shot glasses, etc.) and raiding friends stores of left-over kit bits. I use these to create small versions of the sort of Sci-Fi models which, back in the 1970s, would have been found in the trash cans outside the back door of ILM having been emphatically rejected by Messers Lucas, Spielberg, and the like; thus never having (dis)graced the silver screen... You might like to try it sometime, it's silly fun!
Cheers,
M

Welcome to MSC Bruce, really looking forward to you sharing some movie magic secrets with us. My dream as a kid was to work for ILM, life took me down a different path however model building is always in the forefront. Hope you enjoy your time here and looking foward to seeing your work.

Hey Bruce...good to see you on the forum. Looking forward to seeing some of your work. That sunset pic is really cool! I saw quite a few sunsets like that when my wife and I lived in Westport, WA. Good stuff for sure.

There is nothing quite like seeing plastic pieces transformed into spaceships, buildings, etc. The creative mind of the crafty ape knows no bounds. A random sample: Joe Johnston’s book of designs is a wonderful touchstone for me. If you don’t have it, it’s worth checking out. tcoat: Is that the classic Python sketch of the Bruces? I can't for the life of me remember why your screen name is familiar to me but I am sure someone, even you, will point it out and I'll go "duh" and feel bad. But, memory problems aside, glad to see you join us.

Great to be back, Carlos! 2023 was the year of “garage/storage unit” finds. First the missing X-Wing; and then the missing small “Roddenberry” Enterprise.
