Hi fellas.....bit of a shock this is, finding meself in the wingy section all of a sudden ;D This good lookin` bird was started and had all good intentions of finishing in the KGB (Korean Group Build).............but...........due to the urge to do the cars she kinda got shelved.............so i`ve decided to reserect her here and there whilst i`m sourcing bits for the Nissan. She will be staying blue and she will be sporting the Korean decs (kindly supplied by CB...........as was the aircraft itself ;D)..........she`s not gonna be correct by anymeans and she is purely oob!!!!!!!!!!! I just wanna do a simple attempt at an aircraft without all the pressures of whats right and wrong....................and more importantly.................enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it`s me first one ;D I`ll put up some earleir pics and some recent ones.................be gentle ;D I`ll update this as and when whilst `tween builds.............thanks chaps ;D, this is all dry fit at the mo btw

Thank ya very much `T` and Chris ;D............................ain`t got a clue what i`m doin` but what the heck!!!!!!!!!!!! Just a few pics as time for modeling has been a bit short lived this past coupla weeks.................been experimenting with a bit of weathering as i go along but like i said...............ain`t got a `scooby doo`!!!!!!!!!!! If it`s too much then i appologise and i`ll take that advice onto the next one......................did i just say `next one` !!!!!! This is far from over coz i need to add a bit of wear to the main fuselage, also i need to know what sort of pro-wash i can put over the Blue Anyway................here goes nuffin`.............. I know she`s way off the mark compared to what you wingy guys do but ya gotta start somewhere i suppose............... Anyway feel free to roll on the floor with laughter or burst into tears with disbelief................i can take it ;D ;D The canopy is only dryfitted btw!!

Very nice boots the chipping looks great to me! Along with the fuselage I would add some chipping along the wing root, just to show boot wear. As far as wash, maybe a brownish in color like flory model dirt. Dark blue aircraft are tough to to put a wash on, to dark and it won't show, to light , to much of a contrast. If you call her off the mark I'm curious to see what you would call on the mark! great job!

Hey Pete............thanks for the kind words buddy it means a lot to a wingy virgin like meself, as for the wing roots, i gotta do them as well, i was just really playing at the mo just too see how she would look....................will also do a bit of wear around the dive brakes although i`m not 100% certain the Korean era used the DB`s but i used them just to add a bit of interest.....................to late too change it now (((LOL))).....................thanks again fella!!

Hiya Boots, the Raider looks good to me. If you want, add a bit more 'wear' to the wing roots and leading edge. Not too much though as unlike WWII Hellcats etc, these were finished in a very tough semi-gloss paint to protect against seawater damage. Here's a couple of pics for reference Look how this one has sunk into the mud under the weight of the warload Cheers Steve

Hey Wouts..............i used the Humbrol tinlets No 11 Silver, i find this better to use than Tamiya silver............reason being the Tam ones can leave a dust residue from the pigments and applying over black can sometimes be a pain.................i just cut a very small piece of sponge, dip it in the paint and then onto a tissue to get 90% off................i then very gently apply the sponge in a dabbing motion................just don`t dab too hard when you first apply just in case ther is still too much on the sponge tho........hth buddy ;D

Mac, CB and Dicky..................really appreciate ya support and kind words fellas...............means a great deal so many many thanks chaps. Quick update for ya................ Been adding some more decs (all added now)..............and running a few washes over the wings and stuff.............still need to do the panel wash, wear on the wing roots and a little bit more chipping around the dive brake areas etc!! The decs around the dive brakes have had to be carefully cut and shaped to allow for the open brakes................the decs only come in one piece so to model them open they needed to be altered.....................i`m hoping they`ll settle down with a bit more sol and some clear coat as i have the same prob as CS with the film slightly showing!!!! Have also made a start on some of the ordanance...............i`m going for the centre drop tank, 2 500lb`ers and the rockets (eventually) Thats about it for the mo..............need to run some washes around the landing gear.........and inside the divebrake areas....................oh and paint all them bangy thingys ;D Thanks for looking guys and CB......................the answers a yes ;D ;D ;D ;D Do like the look of the Eduard 2000 me `ol mucka.....................and very muck appreciated

Looking really nice Boots. Weathering looks very good Where the decals 'silver' on dark colours the trick I use is to get a new blade in your scaple then very lightly criss-cross the completely dry decal applying just enough pressure to cut the decal but not mark the paint. Then apply a good coat of Sol. Gently rub a soft brush over the silver area until the cuts just start to show as a raised edge. Dab, not brush, more Sol on and don't touch it again until it's dry! Hey presto! No air trapped under the decal

I realise this may be me being wise AFTER the event, but why didn't you dry fit the airbrakes, add the decs, and when dry,cut thru the join with a brand new blade...Shimples!!
