When I was a kid i enjoyed his inserts in Monogram kits almost as much as some of the kits themselves. I still have the B-17 one somewhere around here. His how to books on building dioramas and armor kits I still hold to dearly.

Nice addition to this build Mike and that breach looks great in there. I would have a hard time building an armor model and NOT putting details in the interior.

Still working on it. Tomorrow I will be trying to get some Indy links from another kit to work on this one. If not it will have to be the rubber band type, which really aren't that bad and are the correct lighter type links. Of course I can not work any sag into the tracks.

Good detailing and color modulation are bringing this one along nicely Mike. I'm learning a ton following along with yours as well as others armor builds on here. Beautiful work.

I think this is going to look mighty fine. Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about any slack in the tracks. Many fine examples without any slack.

Looking forward to seeing how the tracks you used turned out bud.

The drivers vision port has nothing behind, you can see clear to the back plate. So in the most haphazard way possible I glued down clear plastic from a blister pack, painted the back kind of sea blue to give the illusion of an armored glass vision block. image hosting websitesFor the most part when looking at it it's just dark but from certain angles you can see the blue.

On the sag, I had the same problem with a Panther build, and found that using clipped sewing pins inserted in the lower hull sides creates the sag we often desire. The trick is to drill or awl the actual hole, which is super frustrating, but worth the final result. Love what you’re doing with this kit, as always! …you’re one of my favorite modelers and I always learn a lot from you. How did you get that effect on the exhaust, or was it molded in? Can yiu also, explain a little of your color modulation technique, or PM me in it… I recall the theory but it’s slipped my mind.

…oh yeah, what color/brand paint did you use on the road wheels rubber? Testors black and dark gull grey about 75-25. I never really use straight black or any color straight actually, I either lighten or darken depending on what the part is or effect I want.

Can yiu also, explain a little of your color modulation technique, or PM me in it… I recall the theory but it’s slipped my mind. I have seen the pins used for holding the tracks down. Did you build the little shelfs inside the hull to help support the pins from pulling up over time also? I thought I had a picture but can't find it now. The flaking rusty parts of the exhaust is done buy applying liquid cement and while still wet sprinkling on baking soda then blowing off the excess. As for color modulation I just keep darkening and lightening the base color and dry brushing different areas. Now a days though most use oil paints and place dots of paint all over and all colors actually and then take their brush and with a clean brush dipped in thinner remove it using a top to bottom stroke. You will have to ask someone other then me for the exact way to do that though. I believe you have oils right? Actually part of me would like to try oils at some point in time here.

Oh yeah… I forgot about the baking soda trick! …I remember discussing that with you sometime back. I’ll have to try that.
Yeah, the pins work best with built up support on the reverse/inside. I’ve also, simply CA glued the tracks to the return road wheel uppers, and that holds surprisingly well!
And you, I’ve used oils, but water mixable (miscible) oil paints that don’t need thinner… longer drying creamier than watercolor or acrylics, so there’s more time to work it, and able to be feathered out in different directions if you need.

Started weathering the tracks, I don't really paint them I use multiple colors of washes ranging from blackish brown to sandy brown to a light almost rusty color then I dry brush starting with a darker grey and carry that through to just a touch of metallic iron.

Rear deck, I may redo the steel wheel but will mask off the best I can the standard road wheels as I have had enough of rubber rimmed wheels for this time around. Also in the picture is my track wash of the rusty brown that will go on the tracks next. png upload image

Any progresses good progress. Slow and steady! Right you are Carlos! Price of kits these days you may as well just slow your build down and enjoy it, maybe try new things, pay more attention to those tiny details you used to just paint over.

Screwed up. Wanted to mask off the 2 spares as they were already done. Not really a problem with the steel wheel but not looking forward to other one with the rubber. I can see a whole evening trying to straighten this gaff up. Oh well.

I felt terrible for him. Your's is looking GREAT so far bro.

Not even sure I can get the brush angled right to get the rim between rubber and wheel drybrushed neatly. Ah well, will have to wait a day as I'm going to EAA Airventure tomorrow.
