Your panel wash really makes the details in this pop great!

Excellent results with the Flory wash and exhaust staining. Coupled with the pre-shading, you have achieved a very nice effect all around. Great effort Andrew.

Gorgeous...the weathering is fantabulous. Man oh man. That weathering is SPOT on. Great job. Your panel wash really makes the details in this pop great! Thanks gents!! Glad you're liking the progress! I was aiming for a fairly new plane and so the kept the overall finish restrained. And as you will see below shortly, there has been some more progress!

Good evening all And so on the final day of the GB this is for, I managed to finish it. I didn't want too shiny a finish, so rather than my usual satin finish I experimented with a final coat of a 50/50 mix of Vallejo's Matt and Satin Resin varnishes......which leaves just a light sheen. The undercarriage posed the worst problems.....part of it was my fault, wit me not reading the instructions that made it clear the undercarriage parts were slightly different for each side.....and so should have been impossible to put them together the way I did! ....but the worst part was that the sockets for the undercarriage were 'generously' sized, making it hard to get them at the correct angle and lined up with each other. As you will see below, once they were reasonably solidly glued in I left it hanging to dry properly....didn't want to risk it spreading under the weight of the plane as it dried. I'll leave it overnight like that. I hadn't appreciated just how much of the cockpit would be visible at this scale and so I am glad I scratched a new radio, which I am really pleased with. A few pics of the final stages and the finished article are below but I'll post some more in the finished gallery when I get the chance. Thanks to all who have stopped by and offered their support during this build! ATB Andrew ------------------------------------------------------ Prepped for the final assembly.... I'm really liking the final finish....White blotch on the rear of the wing root must be light reflecting somehow, as it's not there in real life. Getting the undercarriage right - hopefully!!Not looking too bad at all, even if I say so myself...but better pics to follow!

It has been an absolute pleasure to have witnessed your build and process. Thanks for taking us along for a wonderful experience. Thanks chaps!!! Glad you like it too. Unfortunately, decent pictures will have to wait..... currently sat in A&E with Junior. He saved an extremely powerful shot and certain goal Friday afternoon in PE and ever since he has been in severe pain.... swelling has not subsided either..... Last time he hurt himself like this, we ignored his complaints for a week..... Turned out he had a hairline wrist fracture! ATB Andrew

It turned out great! I hope all turns out well with the doctor visit Brent Thanks for that. Turns out Junior had a buckle fracture. As he is still young, his bones still have a bit of spring to them and so rather than snap, they bend a bit. Painful in the short term but he should be fine in 3-4 weeks. Thanks for asking!.

I'll say it here, before going over to the finished pictures, this was a great tutorial on how you've turned a 50 year old kit into something to be very proud of.

White blotch on the rear of the wing root must be light reflecting somehow, as it's not there in real life. What a beauty! It is never that easy to paint that kind of green without looking too monotoned and you did very good! It was fun following your build the whole way. No, it wasn't the reflection of the light on the wing when you took the picture but it was actually a reflection of a P-38 Lighting with its bare aluminum metal that is about to attack and I am afraid the pilot will be in for a big surprise. Now you are done so what will you do next?

Considering it is my first 1/48 wingy thing, I really am pleased with it! As for what's next.....I've just started cutting plastic, so watch out for a post soon! Thanks again Andy! All caught up on this great build. I like your rendering of the Raiden. The weathering gives it that "lived in" look. Even though the kit is and "old mold", it still serves a a great base for expanding ones skill sets. Which is what I did with this kit years ago. One of the most fun builds I've done. Thank you for sharing!
