A little history. Factory air ride at all 4 corners, independent front suspension, 6 /71 Detroit Diesel V-6, Aluminum cab and many brake and chassis parts. Bought a trans kit from the Netherlands and it is nice but lacking some parts. To big a hassle to get them so I'll add them on to the scratch build list.

Is the graph paper to help with alignment?

This will be interesting, I didn't know they ever tried air bags on the front axle at GM, though I do remember those cabs. I know Peterbilt did and it cost them a bunch to take them all back and replace the front bags with springs. Too much roll in the turns, whipping trailers.

Is the graph paper to help with alignment? I use the 1/4 x 1/4" graph paper to get the chassis to 1/25 scale and yes the chassis would fit in the lines. I use the scale drawing on the graph paper, than I scan it to the image into my computer, send it to flat feed laser printer originally used for white "blue" prints. I print it to polystyrene (this sheet is .060) than cut out the part (s). The only prep for the sheet plastic is a quick wash with denatured alcohol to give it a "tooth to print to. I can scan from .010 up to .080 both ABS and polystyrene, biggest I printed had a width of 24" and was 36" long. That was hull, some super structer and paddle wheels for the USS Wolverine a Great Lakes side wheel training carrier.

I've modified the differential to have the bulge on the case back cover and added bolt detail. I built the control arms, front and rear air bags and sway bar and mounts. On the front I laminated and shaped the front cross member fitted the air bags and made up the workable lower control arms. The lower control arms still need a ton of pieces added. I use sewing pins for the pivot mounts and Tichy Trains bolts and rivet details.

Some REALLY good mods to this one to get the results that you're looking for Paul!! Talk about attention to detail!!

Made the upper control arms, added all the bits to the lowers, made all the steering linkages, sway bar and links. Made up the pair or air tanks. Started the fuel tanks and added more bolts and rivets. I started to make an AMT 8-V71 Detroit Diesel into a 6V532. Hosted on Fotki

Test fit of the 6V71 in the chassis for the motor mounts. Tube shocks are made and in place. Fuel tanks, piping, wiring and fasteners done and last I made the sound amplifying two stroke exhaust rattle box. Fitted the battery boxes, Air cleaner can and mount, 5th wheel plate and lastly the rear cab latch mount.

You are getting there... bet it felt good to finish the hardest part? The hardest parts are yet to come! The square coil spring mounts for the mud flaps, exhaust stacks with air intake and bracing, mirrors and brackets, lollypop turn signals, grill and outer door handles. All of that follows major surgery on the resin cab. Oh and the ability to tilt the cab.

Got a bit more doe. Wires and piping, test fitted the tires assembly, made the remote oil filter and battery boxes. After a few attempts got the spring mounted mud flaps and quarter fenders made. Next is the resin cab modifications. The hard parts are done!!

The detail work looks nothing short of fabulous Paul. I'm going to be following along closely to see how it's all painted up with all of the details on.

Worked on it a bit before I went to Akron to race last weekend. I've got the cab modifications done and vent window posts added. The mirror parts, door handles, windshield wipers, lollypop turn signals, grill are all made and the stacks and air intake made and Alclad'd up. the chassis is painted too. Paint and interior and final assembly is mostly all that's left.
