I started the hull about a year ago and finally have the weathering the way I want. Since the ship sat for a while I wanted a slight green algae color at the water line. Finally got the look I had in my minds eye.

Yeah, you're creating a nice aged appearance. Not neglected, but certainly not a well maintained ship shape look. I love the Pago superstructures of the IJN capital ships and can't wait to see where this goes!

It's refreshing to see a ship model being built. You have done wonders on your Kongo so far Paul. Excellent paint work and some really fine weathering achieved. The algae effect is especially well done to realistic effect. What kit is this?

The kit is the 1994 issue Fujimi 1944 version that included a full set of 1/350 IJN figures, PE stainless parts, PE rails, brass barrels and a white metal figure of I believe Yamamoto. Only issue I have is it is a first issue kit and ALL the instructions and info is in Japanese.

A combination of AK Interactive streaking enamel, MIG Tint washes with Tamiya greys, white and tans for dry brushing. The teak decks and Linoleum I use Tamiya washes and Rust All pin washes around deck fittings.

Looking good. Looks like there are a lot of intricate sub assemblies in or on the superstructure.

Got the Pagoda pretty much finished with railings and radar on. The middle section is about half done, I hd to make some small ammo boxes and a piece of shielding between the sky mount and the second stack. Hardest part was replacing a port side 20mm that I broke off the barrel on. Paul

Looks good! It might help your photos if you put a piece of plain white printer paper in the background to remove all the clutter behind your subject.

Yes I agree. I do have a white poster board photo set up. I'm just too lazy for in progress photos of ship pics. Generally the assemblies are just too large (yeah! that it!, too large). I did have a photo area but it was a flat space taken over by the Misses and Inky
