Joe, Andy, & Brent, thanks for your kind words.
Joe, I gotta say that these ICM 1/48 Spits are really neat kits. Too bad you can't quite easily find them for the bargain prices that they were at when first brought to the US market. I'd get a few more! So many options in the basic kit.
Andy, I'm glad that you found this thread and like my work on this so far.
Brent, the pointy high altitude wing tips do give a new look to the classic Spitfire elliptical wing.

Thank you. I still need to finish the upper surfaces stencils, then of course do some paint touch ups on the invasion stripes. A few more days of work on it left to do.

Thanks guys!
Brent, aside from the wing topside stripes, the rest of the invasion stripe decals were not as bad as I was worried about. The fuselage stripes, which I worried most about due to the compound curves, gave me the least fuss. Go figure...

Almost there, they do look like a Spitfire when done. I often wonder how much those pointy wing tips helped, it doesn't look like much added wing area and the chord is small out there. But I guess every little bit helps. Perhaps it was more a matter of the tips improving the efficiency of the original wing, like a winglet on an airliner.

I kinda thought the same thing about the wingtips not adding much surface area for improving lift. But then again, the Spitfire already had pretty good wing area.

But the clipped tips really dud help with roll rate. So maybe these really dud give it more loft up high

TJ, Lyle, & Andy, Thank you for looking in and commenting.
TJ, the Spit is interesting in that respect. Three different types of wingtips- standard, clipped, and extended. Each had their purposes.
Lyle, I have got a whole cabinet full of the shelf queens. I really need to reduce that population.
Andy, recessed area washes really do improve the look. I bought some artist charcoal pencils to deal with the areas where the was didn't want to stay...

Thanks Kyle. 12 year old Scotch…. 🤔 Personally I prefer Irish whiskey or Bourbon over Scotch, but I wouldn’t say no to some 12 year old Scotch either… 😏
TJ, I’m sure that most, if not all of us have been there at one time or another with some form of adult beverage… 🤨
Guys I went onto FSM and looked last night. I started this thing in November 2011. Once I get this one done, I’ll only have less than a dozen or so older shelf queens left…
