Silver exterior, with a red interior... I like the sound of it. Plus its an old Impala...

Silver is a tough color to get right because it shows every single imperfection, especially if you've got any bodywork goin' on underneath the paint. This one's gonna be a BMF showcase with all the chrome that trim that it has. Build away brutha JR!!

Thanks, All! I have some photos of my progress on this hardtop. I taped off the side stainless and brush painted the insert with some Testors square bottle red that I thinned. I peeled off the tape before the paint was dry so I wouldn't pull paint and let both sides dry overnight. This morning I trimmed it with BMF on the right side. It turned out pretty good so here are the photos. Thanks for looking!

Thanks, Gary! I appreciate your comment! I guess I shouldn't have painted it silver. All the body trim is done but you can't see it! Interior is next! MAN that's lookin' good JR. I hear what you're saying about the chrome trim vs. the silver body but it still looks good. Maybe an ever so slight wash on the chrome trim??

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! I have been working slowly on the interior since it is so hot out I really don't want to have to paint another one in this heat. I've been watching a lot of baseball too so that has slowed me down. I have finished the interior but not without some missteps. I tackled the seat insert decals first and noticed that one of the seat decals was all one piece for the seat bottom and back. So I used the other two-piece decal to measure and cut the one piece decal before I got started. My mistake was assuming that the one piece decal was for the back seat. I don't know why I didn't look at the instructions, I usually look at them to get the lay of the land but this time I didn't. I had to trim the decal that I put on the back seat as it was too big. When I put the two-piece decal on the front seat I noticed that it was a bit short. That's when I looked at the instructions and realized that I had reversed the front and rear seat decals. But it was too late to change anything so I made the best of a not so good situation. They look fine if you don't look at the trim borders on the seats too closely. The rest was pretty straight-forward. I dullcoted the chrome pieces for the dash to look more like aluminum, foiled the steering wheel, seats and door panels, and added all the decals. The interior is done. Thanks for looking! 😎

Thanks, Kyle, Martin, Ron, and Gary! I appreciate your comments! The engine is done. I added plug wires and was going to add a fuel line but its not worth the trouble and you won't see much. I added a couple of 409 decals from Keith Marks but they wouldn't fit above the Chevy emblem. I'll add some blackwash to the trans and exhausts. I've drilled holes for the heater hoses that I'll add later. Thanks for looking! 😎

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! I like this type of assembly as it allows the engine, chassis and interior to be completed as one unit. That way I can connect the heater hoses and radiator hoses without the body on and getting in the way. I added clear green to the water bottle with a brush that I will have to clean up a little on the right side and made a bracket for the heater hoses from BMF. On to wheels and windows! Thanks for looking! 😎

Thanks, Gary and Kyle! I appreciate your comments! I found some wheels and tires. The tires are a set I bought a couple of years ago from Fireball Modelworks. They are soft, solid redline tires. I painted the red lines. I've been trying to use them but haven't had the right application yet. The wheels are from Revell Ford Thunderbolt. There are two sets of wheels in the kit that are big and littles. But if you have two kits, and don't use the wheels then you have 4 sets of wheels of the same size. These are the littles from two kits. So I thought these wheels which fit the tires very well along with the red lines would look good with the red interior and red stripe on the side. I'll blackwash them to give them more definition. Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking! 😎

Perfect Jr. The set of wheels and tires go GREAT with that car! I can hear that motor idling on cruze night. A knocked out blonde with big CHA-CHA"S, in a tank top, sit'in in the passenger seat. Man....I sure miss those days for sure..

I’m icing the work on the interior and engine JR! I just love building (and seeing) these W motors built up as they are unique and look great under any hood. On the wheels. Get yourself some Tamiya Smoke and airbrush a coat on( you can brush it on too but you have to be pretty quick about r the application). The results will floor you!
