That's some good history on a car that even though there were 10,000 imported here in the U.S., I've never seen nor heard of them before. I'll be following along closely on your build up of it bud.

Not surprised you haven't heard of these as they were not even close to the American ideals back then (or even now for that matter). Saw one at a car show last year and was surprised they even attempted to sell them over here. Smaller than a VW Bug, with a two stroke two cylinder engine making something like 15HP and a 0 to 60 of almost a minute they would have been suicidal to drive on US highways in the 60's. Interested in seeing some more pics on this as I have had this kit in my hand at my local shop many times and just never quite pulled the trigger on it.

I'm used to seeing my kids Impreza WRX outside. This is a little different. Watching for more My wife is on her 3rd Subaru and I am on my second "Toyota" that is 80% Subaru under the hood. My starter motor probably has my HP than the 360 had in the engine.

Certainly an interesting kit. Not to mention the car itself. This will be a fun build to watch.

I'm used to seeing my kids Impreza WRX outside. This is a little different. Watching for more My wife is on her 3rd Subaru and I am on my second "Toyota" that is 80% Subaru under the hood. My starter motor probably has my HP than the 360 had in the engine. The starter on your car is undoubtedly more powerful. On this version of the car (YOUNG-SS), the engine power was 26KW (!). Here is the data from the wiki: Equipped with a 3-speed manual transmission, the 360 had a top speed of 60 mph (96.6 km/h),[7] and with a curb weight under 1000 pounds, the 360 was exempt from compliance with US safety regulations. Consumer Reports recorded a 0-60 time of about 37 seconds and reported 25–35 mpg‑US (9.4–6.7 L/100 km; 30–42 mpg‑imp),[8] despite Subaru's claimed 66 mpg‑US (3.6 L/100 km; 79 mpg‑imp). When introduced in 1958, the 360's engine produced 16 hp (12 kW). By the end of production, power had increased to 25 hp (19 kW) with a 36 hp (27 kW) twin-carbureted engine optionally available, achieving 100 hp per liter. The performance and size limitations were largely the result of it having been engineered and designed for Japanese driving conditions, as the speed limits in Japan are realistically set at 40 km/h (24.9 mph) in urban areas, with average driving distances at 5–8 mi (8.0–12.9 km) per day.

Ha... I like the marketing slogan in the US. Kinda like when they marketed the 'Thing'. This Subaru has hints of Citroen (or vice versa). Fun project and I like the frocking.

15 HP? And I thought my old 1983 Honda Accord 3-door was anemic at 75 HP! It was a really good car though, and it was reasonably quick so long as you asked for power before you needed it. Those "Kei" cars coming from Japan now are really cute, but most of them top out at around 60 MPH, so they really have to be pushed hard to stay on the freeway, even in Hawaii!

Wow!! I get a little busy with real life for a couple of days and look back in here and it's..........finished!! The paint scheme that you used is a real attention getter all by itself and then there's the rest of the build. Very nicely brought across the finish line in what seems like a blink of an eye Vyacheslav. Your attention of detail on the smallest of builds is just outstanding. Well built and well photographed bud.

A little hard to tell from the photos, but are those photo etch rivets on the body?
