β This is another kit I have started prepping. Its a Revell of Germany kit that I found at Michaels. Although its in the usual American boxing, its instructions reveal that if was designed for Europe. Instructions in 21 different languages. In my old age, I have finally determined what makes European models so different - they have discovered how to take something simple and make it very complicated as can be seen by the first page of instructions. I have done all the basic painting but there will be a lot of detail painting to do as I completed each step. But I will eliminate multiple shades of the same color and try to keep this simple. The body is painted Tamiya Italian Red and the rest have been painted with shades of black and silver. I still have to rub out the body and I have bagged all the parts so this should be ready to go once I start. Thanks for looking! π β

I actually really enjoyed this kit. I built one in standard issue British racing green. Itβs going to look really sharp in red. Look forward to seeing it come together

Thanks, Gary, Kyle, and John! I appreciate your comments! I may have posted this in the wrong thread so if an administrator can move it it would be fine with me! β I built the '"old tool" convertible issue of this kit and it had some serious warpage problems with the hood and frame. I sorta got it straightened out but it still didn't look quite right. I'll find it one day ( I have to find it among the 350 or so built kits which is never any fun) and post it so you can see the issues.Β I rubbed out the hood and body today but had to repaint the top and re-clear due to a clouding issue fo some sort and I had a booger in the top that I had to get out. I'll rub the body out again tomorrow. Thanks for looking!Β π β

I didn't expect one of these cars from you JR but it's sure gonna be a treat! I've not built a RoG kit before but I've heard of the complexities of them. With your skills I'm sure you'll whip this one in some good shape. Watching the magic unfold..................... Where did you want to move this thread to JR?

Thanks, All! Joe, maybe it is more appropriate here. If you think its OK its fine with me. β I've posted below a couple of photos of the convertible that I built some time ago. I remember that the box it came in was very small much like the $.98 kits that we used to buy when we were kids when we didn't have enough money in our pockets to buy the $1.49 or $2.00 Trophy Series kits. I'm pretty sure that the box said Revell of Brazil as in South America. I thought I saved the box top but I can't find it now. Anyway, the hood was pretty warped and i straightened it out a bunch but its still warped to the left a bit. Thanks for looking! π β

Lookin good. The red is a great choice for that body. I have not built a new Revell kit. All the ones in my stash are old. Are you liking the new style instructions? The new colored 3-D style is interesting. I think I like it so far.

I owned a 65 4.2 fixed head coupe for 20 years. It was a darker red called Oxblood. It was a great car but we both got too old!

I think the wire wheels fall a bit short but they are hard to reproduce in scale. Very enjoyable build though.

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! Not sure about the instructions - seems to take something simple and make it more complicated. Just my 2 cents. β I'm back on this one finally. I got distracted by a couple of other builds and this one got shoved into the closet. I had previously painted and rubbed out the body and painted a few of the larger parts. Now I am starting to assemble everything and detail painting the parts with a brush as I go. So far I have partially assembled the engine and the rear suspension which is the first page of instructions. Lots of detail painting and lots of decals. I am just going to build this box stock. More progress tomorrow! Thanks for looking!Β π β

Thanks, Kyle, Handlabeled, and John! I appreciate your comments! β I finished the interior and also mounted a different set of wire wheels. The chrome decal for the middle of the dash crumbled on me when I applied some Micro Sol. So I foiled it instead and used the extra set of gauge faces supplied in the kit (see previous post). I also foiled the console and the doors. It was easy and looks good to me. I used the decals in the trunk area but it weas difficult to line up the decal on those runners in the trunk floor. I should have just foiled them too. The steering wheel and turn signal indicator lever are also foiled. I did manage to get the shifter pattern decal to stay on the stick shift (maybe for the first time ever). For the wheels, I decided to use some wheels from the parts box that came from the 32 Ford Sedan.Β They were a little tricky since they are big and littles. You can't really tell it very easily in the diameter but because the rear wheels were meant for a wider tire, they are also wider than the Jaguar kit tires that I am using. So with some whittling and sanding I was able to make them fit the tires approximately and since the tires are a bit spongy with some white glue they cling pretty well to the tire. I like them better than the kit wheel because they are quite so busy and the kit wheel looks a little big to me. I can still modify the two-pronged spinner and glue to the center of the wheel. I'll take a vote - attach the spinners or not? Thanks for looking and thanks for any suggestions!Β π β

I think it looks pretty clean without the spinners. Great upgrade on the kit wheels. Which were my least favorite part of the kit.

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments and suggestions on the spinners. No spinners it is! β The windows and foil are done and the rear end is done except for the license plate. I had to foil the chrome windshield frame because there were some lumps in the plastic frame that had to be scraped off so I foiled it. Taillights and bumpers were pretty straight-forward. Next is the hood area. I have also been working painting my next project so this is slowing down a bit. Thanks for looking!Β π β

With the brightwork and body on this is looking every bit the iconic car that it is. The engine compartment detail shows nicely with the body on.
