I've yet to dabble much in the 3d printed AM market, but it seems a common complaint that some are so brittle they are nearly destroyed just removing them from the carrier piece. This is coming along great!

Color, finally! IMG_4132 by Russel Baer, on Flickr It's Tamiya TS-46 over their gray primer. Detail painting next, while the tracks soak in vinegar.

Pretty sure there were a couple of old wrecks of these out in the desert when I was with peace keeping in the Sinai. That turret has a pretty distinctive shape.

I believe that those turrets were also mounted on Sherman hulls to upgun the firepower on some older types. In any case, both types saw service there in '56 and '67.

These would likely have been the remnants of the Yom Kipper war. For sure they were not Sherman hulls. Or more accurately what was left of Sherman hulls. There were wrecks of just about anything you can imagine scattered through the desert.

But I don’t know for certain either way. Regarding the armor wrecks all over the Sinai, I do recall the tales my friend would tell me of his navy days and sailing through the Suez Canal, seeing the destroyed tank hulks right by the shorelines. I’ve never been to that part of the world myself but would love to travel there someday.

I forget now that it had only been a little over 10 years between the 6 Day War and my being there. Was just that 1967 seemed like eons in the past to 20 year old me. I bet many of the wrecks are still there to this day.

Yes, when my friend was sailing thru Suez when he saw the wrecks was during the Persian Gulf "tanker war' period of the 80's... That would have been roughly 15 years after the October 73 War, give or take. Time does give a different perspective between how far back it was to you relatively between those years and now...

Coming along with some detail painting and the wash. IMG_4143 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_4142 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Vallejo apparently no longer makes the old acrylic wash I used to use so I picked up some "games" wash by the same company. I think I like it, very easy to use and lots of weird colors available.

It was a busy Christmas here, hope all y'all had a good one! Now that it's settled down a bit I've had a little time to model so I'm trying to wind this up. I have other stuff to do! At the moment, I think I'm down to antenna mounts, the big screen over the cooling fan, hatches and figs, and maybe a Sherman tow cable, seen in a few pics. Russ
Apologies completely missed this in the busyness of the resurrected forum.
That's come on beautifully and I love the work you did to a correct the wheels in particular.
I actually first came across these as an 11 year old in the early 80s when someone introduced me to Avalon Hills board wargaming.....in particular Arab Israeli Wars.
I also saw one running at one of the recent Tankfests at Bovington....I think it was a 90mm version.
Keep up the great work.
Andrew

Thanks guys. Yeah, Carlos, it is butt ugly. It looks like a cartoon tank, proportions all wrong, squatted down like it's broken, but the kit itself was so relaxing and easy to build I'm going to do another one shortly. Then I'll have one to $#!+ on and one to cover it up with... rotflmao!!!! Can I say that on TV?

I almost missed this! LOL! I totally agree with Carlos comment... so ugly but still I'd give it a hug if it ever needs one but I will have to drink plenty of bourbon first. You re doing an outstanding work as usual!

A shot? Between this one and the Sherman, I'd ay that you deserve a nice generous two finger pour in a wide tumbler

That’s funny my wife and I are planning one too since it will pass thru Indiana too especially where my father in law lives since it will be right in the center of the path. Exciting times! Guess we will said cheers virtually this time.
