Great work so far, excellent! Thank you Steve. Unfortunately things took a turn for the worse on this build. First, the middle color I used on the tri color paint job looks awful, and my weathering skills are seriously lacking, but my biggest blunder came while applying the second large star decal on the fuselage and touching (and destroying) the first one I applied! However, I started it and I WILL finish it! But it will have to wait until I get back home after Thanksgiving. Until then here it where I’m at:

I will be out of town next week so I’ve put this on hold until I get back. I have 3 other aircraft (so far) I’d like to build so I will finish this one and continue to improve my techniques. Thanks for the support everyone has shown as venture into this unknown territory!

Stick with it, its amazing what can be saved once the dust settles I'll second that Alan. You're doing a bang up job on this, especially for someone that I've not seen build an aircraft kit. Looking good so far ak and looking forward to the recovery efforts when you get back to this one.

Welll, I drug this kit back out and finished it. We’ll sort of…I’m not happy with the tri color paint job, nor the weathering I did on it so I don’t want to invest in more decals for it. I glued the cowling and propeller on and sharpied the canopy lines and attached it with Elmer’s glue. If I hang this up in my hobby room I will face the damaged decal towards the wall… Pictures will get posted tonight when I get home. I think I’ve learned a little on this one so the next airplane I do should be better.

And there's Alan! Don't worry about where you're at in the modeling aspect as we're all learning at different stages. I'm just glad to see you back here posting again potna. Looking forward to seeing those pictures.

You can see the damaged decal in the 3rd photo. I will revisit this kit again when I get better at aircraft and try to do it justice!

Looks pretty darn good for someone who "claims" they haven't built in 35 years. But really, the kit looks splendid and don't sell yourself short. Well done.

I wouldn’t worry too much about that broken decal. And we’re all our own worst enemies. So, despite your own thoughts I must say this looks very nice!! Great work.

Looks really good "for a car guy". In all seriousness, it looks really good in all respects. Doing planes is a completely different animal then cars. You did good

You've got no kick coming with that one Alan ( ak ). Sorry about the decal blues but other than that this one turned out very well. In 1/24 scale that thing should be quite the beast as far as size is concerned. Was there an option for the wing fold with this one? It's really cool to see you build an aircraft as I know you to be an auto builder.

Thanks Joe. It’s 1:48 scale. 1:24 would be a beast! I do have a 1:24 scale Huey helicopter. It’s HUGE! 😬 No the wings aren’t made to be build in the folded position. That would be cool though!
