Back on the Flak 37, primed and base coated with Vallejo Dunkelgelb German Dark Yellow AFV Paining System to give some colour modulation. It has had a coat of satin varnish ready for the next stage weathering with oil paints.

Weathering on the gun almost completed, used oil paint dot blending to get the colour variations as well acrylic paints.

I have just about completed the gun base and gun now, only a little bit of weathering and blending into the scene left.

That looks so good!! The weathering is just perfect. It looks just like it should on the base.

Here are a couple of before and after photos of the weathering on the gun carriage.

I still have some chipping to add to the carriage and the gun, what colour do you guys suggest to use for chipping. Looking at colour photos from German guns in WW2 it looks like chipped paint shows a red oxide primer, would you guys agree?

Added some chipping using oils in Light Red, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber and Grey (Black/White) of different shades. The oils can be toned back using enamel thinners if necessary, let me know what you think?

I did a bit of blending and some highlighting. I am happy with the result.

You did good on the chipping using the red oxide primer effects Stuart. The combination of detailing and weathering is sure bringing this one to a lifelike look man.

In looking at that before and after picture with the weathering effects, one can most certainly tell the amount of work & time that you are putting into this.

I was looking at your thread on the crew and saw the link to this build. I have just finished reading it through and I am totally gobsmacked! This is an awesome build. The detailing of the gun and its carriages is superb, as is the painting and weathering. So impressed and now bookmarked. Heading back to the thread on your figures.
