Yep, colors are perfect, yellow stripes are perfect too. Carry on.

What did you end up doing to get the joint to stay together? Those legs are pretty similar in design to the AT-ST from Star Wars. The colors you went with work very well together and seem natural on that mech.

Beautiful sniffer-y painter-y SciFi goodness! So sorry to read your intro about what happened: condolences. What a stump buster!

Wow Chromdome this is awesome! I've got a couple of these beasties and your work has inspired me to attempt one. My condolences for your loss, believe me it's something I truly understand. I'd also like to say that I love your Avatar, your wife and yourself must be really cool, fun folks.

Outstanding build! The texture on it really makes a huge difference from what I have seen other Ma.K builds!!! Now I am regretting selling all of those kits several years ago… 🤪

Awesome work, Brian, looks pretty sweet from here. The issue with the legs, did you end up pinning them? I find I'm having to pin a lot of joints for security, just to be on the safe side.
Sorry to hear about your Pops, that's always a tough one. My dad was an Iron horse and it was tough to see him pass. You've got good genes from all indications, long life ahead, so keep your chin up, Buddy!

Regarding the leg issue, I got the joint to stay together; however, the weight of the model is enough that the joint won't hold the model upright. I'm going to try super gluing it in place once I'm done painting and weathering. Right now it's handy to have it moveable.

Thank you everyone for the comments! I am really enjoying this first build of an Ma.K kit...I think I'm hooked. I picked up 2 more Ma.K kits (Mk44 AmmoKnight and a Fledermaus) and I have the Groberhund on order.

I don't think any of our kids or grandkids would call us cool by today's standards, but we try not to take life too seriously and have a bit of fun. We took that picture on a road trip through Alaska, just being silly.

I really like the cast texture on the "turret"! I was kind of on the fence about texturing MaK kits, reasoning that tungsten-ceramic armor would be smooth, but your build has convinced me otherwise. ...But is "strength rogin" smooth or rough? That's the stuff the Mercenary Forces' older AFS suit are made of. It is supposedly something like resin impregnated boron nitride fibers or something like that. Basically bullet-proof FRP. Or it could be improved, max strength hair restorer. I don't know. My Japanese reading skills are a little weak.
