You are really dropping this into the weeds! I'm looking forward to seeing the stance with the body on it once you get the ride height set

I'm looking forward to seeing the stance with the body on it once you get the ride height set I don't think it will be too drastic. 1/4 in sounds like a lot until realize the scale and then how high it comes out of the box. It will be noticeably lower though.

Finished lowering the front, and also completed the rear axle. Same approach as the front. Cut off the axle and glued it back on in a lower position. Took the plunge and started cutting open the wheel wells to fit the wheels. I was pretty happy with the result, clean cut. Doesnt look hacke dup. Wheels still roll. A little bummed its not lower, but this is as low as I can get it with copping up the actual visible parts of the floorboard. Still an improvement over the 4x4 style ride height out of the box haha.

Stance is perfect along with your method to get it there James. It's good to see you on this big bad boy of a model.

James I think you got it just low enough for it to look perfect once you get it assembled. Going to be great.

Started to get some work done on this big ol' thing. Then I realized if I am going to add lights, I should probably do the wiring, locate the spot for the battery so it can be hidden, and drill any holes that I will need. Here is where I stopped before the engine has to be dropped into the chassis.

Spent the evening trying to decide where to hide this batter box for the LED's It did not take long to realize that its far to big to hide, while still being able to easily change the batteries. I went back to the Evan's Designs website where I ordered these parts and got a much smaller battery and box and switch.

I'm way late and it doesn't apply to your model, but the turn signals on that early bus were probably flags that flipped up out of the door posts. I had a friend in college that had a black Bug with them. I mostly remember the battery shorting out on the rear seat cushion.

That battery box was huge. I think your solution will be a great answer for the power source. The engine compartment looks great!

Got started with the headlight LED's last night. Wanted to see how they would fit. If my assumptions (and bad measurements) were correct. Started by drilling out the back of the Chrome headlight. This worked out really well, as the little nib of plastic designed to be the fake headlight bulb actually makes a perfect circle the size I need to remove on the back. You can jsut barely make it out on the photo. Once Drilled out I bought these clips designed to hold the lights in place. They are listed at 3mm, but my measurement of where they snap in place was 4.45mm and my 3/16 drill bit measures out to be 4.73mm but it worked perfectly. Here is how the light looks when installed. 1st mistake. Or well, oversite. Not sure if I can make this fit behind the plate that covers but we shall see. Looks like someone's van got an HID retrofit haha I was able to carefully bend the wires flat and test it out. Fits, but its gonna be really close. Ill do some sanding and test fits later A little test shot with the light on.
