What are your model plans for 2024?

Every year at this time I try and map out a plan for my builds for the upcoming year. Most of the time I somewhat follow that plan. Sooo.

Need to finish the 5 Airfix Mustangs currently on the bench.
Fw190 Group Build
Get a start on the BSGB 1/12 cockpits
Finish up some shelf queens. TA-4J & Bf110
Thinking about joining Joes American Car GB.......maybe
And last my Japanese aircraft stash needs to have something built from it. Not sure which but something.

I never plan ahead anymore. Many of my past plans now sit half done.

I'll be finishing the Vette hopefully this month and if not....then I'll definitely be finishing it up in January. After that I'll be working on a Dragon Ta152 build.

Beyond the Andy's 1/16 Tiger and
The Hasegawa FW-190 for the two Group Builds I'll have to see which way the wind blows me.

Been looking at my Tamiya F-35 and a Hasegawa A-4 Skyhawk but we'll see how it goes.

A 1/72 Focke Wulf Ta-152, either Dragon or Aoshima, for the Focke Wulf 190 GB

After that, it is whatever tickles me fancy.

My plan is to try to finish as many of my started builds as I can.  Without starting any more.  LOL    And to get a real good start on the BSGB.    

And as it has been for the last couple of years.....try to reduce the stash by selling off kits.

Hats off to all of you with a plan. I have no earthly idea. Hasegawa FW190 for the group build, I suppose. Then a 1/16 Rolls Royce for the other group build. Outside of that I couldn’t tell you. Many, many cars and some trucks, if I had to guess. Definitely at least one made in america car for that OTHER group build.

I have some rather loose plans for 2024.

-> The firmest one is to see how soon in 2024 I finish my 900th vehicle (I'm up to 892 now). Then to see how many I can complete over the remaining year.

-> Finish all the ships and boats I started this year.

-> Complete as many of my shelf queens I can finish. That will depend on whether I find/replace missing parts and decals.

-> Finally: see how close I come to finishing 500 aircraft and helicopters (I have 473 currently finished.)


Again these are loose plans I hope to accomplish and will try to stick with them as best as possible. Then again, no plan survives contact with the enemy.....

Work space plans
Replace Artograph paint booth with something new
Possibly relocate build space workbench (possible garage workspace changes)

This will be the first year I actually have any concrete plans. But who am I kidding…

Top priority will be the ‘71 GTX for our GB here.
I also want to finish my two current main builds (‘71.5 Camaro and VW gasser). I’d love to finish the VW this year, but I don’t see it happening.
The next three in line are the ‘67 Chevelle, ‘72 Vega, and ‘77 Pinto Pintera. Basically, I really want to finish what I started this year with all of these.

New projects? I’m pretty hot to build another of the old Monogram ‘69 Z28 kits right now. Sort of as a benchmark.

Probably won’t finish any of the above. But I’ll probably start on 10-20 new builds!😂

So far my lineup for 2024 includes:

Eduard Fw190A-7 1:48
Eduard Fw190D-9 1:48
Hasegawa Akagi 1:350
Eduard A6M2-N Rufe 1:48

If my son decides he wants to sleep through the night, then I should have no problem getting all those done plus possibly a few others. But that’s a big IF.

Then there is the Razor Crest for the Big stuff build but I'll probably do Boba Fetts ship first as a practice run.
Contemplating a Jeep Wrangler in 1:25.
Got a Heritage series Western Star with the 4864FX Aussie spec bonnet that I want to convert to a tipper and dog trailer.
Have a Verlinden Bust of U.S soldier in Vietnam to finish.
A HQ Holden keeps speaking to me every time I open the cupboard.
There is also a Mack V8 Titan sitting in the cupboard that went sideways with contaminated paint that needs finishing.
I guess we'll see what happens!

Since my model bench is buried and literally has cobwebs, I'm going to start small and clean it up. I'm just hoping I'll actually sit down and build something in 2024.

For 2023 I planned on building 14 kits. Had them all laid out, some started and ready. Life around the place got super busy with 1:1 must-get-dones and then I re-injured my back and I went hard down. I haven't touched my bench since February. For 2024 I will work on what I have started and hope to finish as many as I can and the ones I don't have started perhaps, if things work out, I will get them going. Other than starting my Big Scale build here I only have plans to continue working on something and hopefully I can recover enough to get things going again.

I have the Hillbilly truck in 1/35. But Christmass is coming and Mrs. Castelnuovo will do her routine gift for me, which I very much love, is a gift card for the LHS. So stay tuned, more is coming
