One of my all time favourite aircraft and what an excellent build - beautiful work! I must have a look at this kit.

Chaps. Apologies for the lack of updates, yet another family death and following that, the funeral has meant my eye hasn't really been on the ball. Feeling my way back into it, tackled the props with all the masking shenanigans and of course decals. Tiny bit of touching up to correct my ham fisted painting and we're good. Cheers

Sorry for your loss, Mence.
That's a lot of decals and stripes!

Really sorry to hear that - my best wishes to you and your family.
That is looking really good - that Gannet was a mad aircraft, twin engines running a single contra-prop, great stuff.

Sorry for your loss Mence. It is indeed hard to get back in the swing of things after such a life event. Glad you're here pal.

Hello chaps, thank you. So today sees it over the finish line, canopies, remaining clear parts and a few breaky offy bits and minimal grey panel line detailing. All in all a really enjoyable build, Airfix are to be applauded for a well engineered, great fitting kit. If I was to criticise, the absence of seat belts if you dont want to use the crew figures is a shame but that's it really, a great kit. Many thanks for following and your kind support.

Agree with Carlos. Thanks to your beautiful build it is certainly one that has caught my eye. Always a fan of the strange and sometimes ugly stuff.

Somehow, I missed posting on this one as well. I cannot say enough good about what I've seen in this build thread Prof. I think what I'm liking most about this is the out of the ordinary subject along with the talent that I've seen bring it all together. Just beautiful work on every level with superb attention to detail.

Well that's a fine build of an airplane that looks like it fell from the Ugly Tree and hit every branch on the way down! The lack of seat belts is perhaps not so bad, as most modelers would have scraped them off and replaced them anyway. Those who attempted to build Classic Airframes' kit rejoice in a better fitting, lower stress kit! Airfix continues to get better all the time, and the Gannet is so on-target (British model company, British niche subject, British Royal Navy super-contender in their "Design the Most Ugly Aeroplane Contest"). But at least the Gannet was successful in its role. (We Yanks could never get a contraprop system to ever work reliably! I put the blame squarely on Westinghouse's X/YT-40!) I hope Airfix continues and does the Barracuda as well. When both are fully folded up for carrier stowage, they look like creations from a mad origami artist! And then they can carry on with the GOOD looking British "aeroplanes" like the DeHavilland Hornet.
