So it begins. This is going to be fun!! <Matt Right you are Matt!! Looking forward to Part II. Much like everyone here, real life (work) has taken all my bench time since my last post. But I have cracked open the box again and will (fingers crossed) have some updates this week. I did purchase an Eduard look IP and a quickboost cockpit upgrade set (seat, rudder pedals, and other bits) that I have been getting prepped to paint. <Matt

Good to see you getting back some bench time. I can totally relate as family health issues have kept me from the bench as well as the forum. It's all good as we all have our bout of life distractions. It's always comforting to know that one has our modeling to go to when all has passed.

That seat looks pretty well detailed Matt. Is it a Quickboost seat? Good to see some progress on this one and to have you back buddy.
That paint work on the 1/144 scale version.....WOW!!! I built a few 1/144 scale aircraft with my son years ago and had a blast with them and given how tiny those were just adds to the "wow" factor with this D-9 you've got going on.

The office is taking shape nicely. Your paint work for that scale is odd the charts!

Joe- it is part of a quickboost set for the cockpit. Really love their seats for 1/48th really plug and play and look great when painted up. To me the seat looks like it’s crooked and sitting too high. Need to also fix the part on the rear wall. The 144 scale birds are super fun. Believe I airbrushed those freehand with a brand new .2 needle and AK real colors paints. Don’t really remember what paints to be 100% honest.

Pretty much just paint 'em up an put them into place alright. I've gotten to where I'm now a fan of the HGW seat belts. A true pain in the neck to put together but really look the part when they're all assembled and installed. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the finish up on that 1/144 Dora.

The build continues. Was able to get the seat removed from the cockpit assembly so that I could repair the rear firewall and reduce the height of the seat. In the process I broke the resin throttle and lost it. Not too worried as it would have been almost completely invisible once the fuselage is closed anyway. Assembled the fuselage gun bay and rear engine compartment, then began some dry fitting. This is where I remembered the addition that Eudard made to the original instructions for the angles necessary in the gun bay to get it to sit right, alas too late for me on that account. I will have to gameplan a way to get the correct fit now as it is solidly glued together. Pictures don't look too bad, but hid the fact that the top front separated from the aft wall while attempting to get it to sit properly. Not going to let that deter me yet though, just have to work it out. I had forgotten how finicky the D-9 fuselage is with no pins to align it with and all that. I hope to be able to tackle any fitment issues as well as tucohoward did. Untitled
Untitled Since these pictures were taken, I have primed the cockpit and applied the initial coat of RLM 66, as well as some RLM 02 to the landing gear and MLG bay assemblies in the wing. Thanks for looking, <Matt

I’ve included the link here for all interested. www.eduard.com/out/media/8188.pdfKey is 93 degrees on each angle, or as my eyes would see it, just far enough off of true to drive me crazy. Matt

Looks like you are persevering! I agree the lack of alignment pins in the fuselage can be very tricky

Cool. I'm watching closely since I have plans of making this kit sometime during the GB. IF I can get to it in time, and not lose interest along the way. I'm also keen to see how the Eagle Cals work out for ya. The 2 sets I used are fine, but the main markings (crosses) are pretty darn thick IMO.

The struggle Continues.... More of a struggle to get to the bench and to stay motivated to build, but also some stuggle with the build itself. I believe that I mentioned this is an overtrees boxing of the old(er) 190D from Eduard, and it is showing some age. There is some flash on the parts and as mentioned before there is only 1 or 2 pins on the entire fuselage halves to help align everything. Of course if you have the engine accessories built completely square (with the two 93 degree corners of course) and the cockpit tub exactly aligned I guess the rest in theory will be ok, but for me that was not the case. I am not sure if the Look instrument panel is a touch too wide, or if my engine section is truly that far off, but man I had to squeeze and pry and beg to get into shape. So for the pictures I have the cockpit completed, the engine accessories completed and the fuselage gun deck detail painted. Untitled by matt pohlman, on Flickr Untitled by matt pohlman, on Flickr Untitled by matt pohlman, on Flickr Untitled by matt pohlman, on Flickr Untitled by matt pohlman, on Flickr Untitled by matt pohlman, on Flickr Untitled by matt pohlman, on Flickr Untitled by matt pohlman, on Flickr Untitled by matt pohlman, on Flickr I have been working on the wing root gun bays as well as the wings, shouldn't be too bad of a fit, small gap to fill on the aft side of the wings and a small issue with the ejector ports not lining up with the holes in the wing bottom to sort out, but coming along now. The challenge now is to get it done before I have to pack up all my stuff and move at the end of next month. Anyway thanks for looking and all comments, critiques and advice are always welcome <Matt

It is great to see your D-9 again!! I like the look of your office. Are you leaving the gun bay and rear of the engine visible? I'm struggling with some of the same fitment issues but mine are all self created by the 25 pounds of resin aftermarket I am putting in it.

Handi , I will be leaving them open more due to the fit issues I’ve already introduced than anything, but I do like the look of an opened up aircraft.
